Worried about all the possible changes coming to Twitter after Elon Musk takes over?

Well, if one of your concerns is the return of tweets from former President Donald Trump, you may have nothing to fear…if Trump himself is to be believed.

According to Fox News, Trump told the outlet he would not be moving back to Twitter, instead opting to stay on Truth Social, his social media platform on which he has to date only posted one single time, back before it officially launched.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH,” Trump said to Fox News when the outlet reached out.

Trump was permanently banned from the platform on Jan. 8, 2021 for breaking the platform’s policies regarding inciting violence as a result of his behavior on the social network amid the Jan. 6 Capitol riot two days earlier.

However, Trump did wish Musk well, according to Fox News.

“I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH,” said Trump, before making a pitch for his platform.

“We’re taking in millions of people, and what we’re finding is that the response on TRUTH is much better than being on Twitter,” he shared with Fox News. “Twitter has bots and fake accounts, and we are doing everything we can. The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter.”

Fox News says that Trump also told the outlet that he will begin “TRUTHing,” or actually using his social media platform, over the next week. Trump being exclusive to Truth Social seems to be a major selling point which the platform will market itself on.

Conservative social media users and right wing influencers have been jubilant over the past few weeks over the prospect of Elon Musk acquiring Twitter and possibly reinstating Trump’s account. Musk can still unban Trump’s account, of course. But, if Trump is to be believed, the former president doesn’t plan to use it.

However, Truth Social has reportedly been flailing over the past few weeks. Trump mentioned his platform was racking up millions of users, but the only people seemingly experiencing high engagements are the major right wing personalities such as Dan Bongino. Downloads and usage from the average consumer have plummeted. Major tech executives have also resigned from the company.

Can Trump stay off Twitter if given the opportunity to return? Will he actually start using his Truth Social account? It’s doubtful that he can stay away from the masses on Twitter, but he also stands to profit from Truth Social’s success.

Twitter users who feared Trump’s return, though, can breathe a sigh of relief…at least for now.
