Walmart, to better compete with Amazon Prime, continues to add upgraded perks to its Walmart+ shopping service. The latest improvement doubles the service’s discount on fuel to up to 10 cents a gallon.
Walmart+ also offers free same-day delivery for 160,000 grocery items, tech products, and household essentials. An annual subscription fee is $98, which makes Walmart+ about $40 cheaper than the $139 yearly cost of Amazon Prime.

Interested shoppers can take advantage of a 30-day free trial, but note that Rx for less benefits and early access promotions are not included in the free trial.

Shoppers can expect free same-day delivery for 160,000 grocery items, tech products, and household essentials. Same-day delivery requires a $35 order minimum, but free next-day and two-day shipping options are free without any online order minimums.
If you need your Walmart orders delivered extra fast, Walmart+ members can also utilize two-hour Express Delivery for just $10. Non-members must pay an additional delivery fee on top of the $10 cost for subscribers.
Walmart+ subscribers who shop in-store can use the Scan & Go feature on Walmart’s app for touch-free checkout. Members can also save up to ten cents per gallon at 14,000 participating Exxon, Mobil, Walmart, and Murphy gas stations. In addition, subscribers get access to discounted member pricing for gas at all Sam’s Club locations.
Walmart+ also offers Rx for less, which gives members up to 85% off thousands of prescriptions at Walmart pharmacies.
How does Walmart+ compare to Amazon Prime?
Walmart+ may beat Amazon Prime’s price, but it’s a bit light on perks when compared in a head-to-head.
In addition to similar shipping perks, Amazon Prime offers subscribers access to hundreds of movies and TV shows on Prime Video with exclusive access to Amazon Original content like “The Boys” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” music streaming through Amazon Music Unlimited, cloud photo storage, access to ebooks, and so much more.
It remains to be seen if Walmart+ will offer shoppers similar entertainment benefits to complement its delivery perks and discounts on gas and prescriptions.
