The insights have been published in biographer Tom Bower’s book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors, which delves into various aspects of the pair’s relationship and what led to them ditching their royal duties. The biographer wrote how Prince Harry’s closest friends clashed with Markle’s strict views, concluding she had no sense of humour. The Prince invited 16 friends, mostly school mates and their partners, for a shooting weekend at Sandringham in 2016, shortly after news of their relationship broke. “He (Harry) had not anticipated Meghan’s reaction. According to the excerpt, Charles “berated” Prince Harry and called on him to end it: “Can’t she just go and see him and make this stop”.Markle claimed she did not know how to contact her father, instead of the truth which was that they were not on speaking terms, Bower wrote. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were extremely defensive when Queen Elizabeth requested Markle fly to Mexico to speak with her father, Thomas, which led to Prince Harry starting to “sympathise with her rejection of the palace’s deference and hierarchy”.Isolation ensued and the couple began to cop flak from British tabloids for their actions. Markle soon began to begrudge any comparisons with her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, and started lashing out at critics and blamed the palace for not defending her. Tensions rose when she announced at Princess Eugenie’s wedding that she was pregnant, the book revealed. During a tour of Australia, the Sussexes received a Princess Diana-style greeting.
