Cameras cut away from the band for a full 40 seconds midway through their performance of the hit song Supermodel, shortly after frontman Damiano David turned around to reveal that his outfit included a butt-baring G-string.And fans soon took to social media to express their anger that the performance had been butchered for those watching at home, apparently over a couple of bare butt cheeks. But, as newly surfaced photos from the performance reveal, the performance wasn’t so heavily censored because of David’s behind – it was because another Maneskin band member had suffered a pretty severe wardrobe malfunction behind him.Bassist Victoria De Angelis had earlier walked the red carpet in a one-shouldered top that exposed one of her breasts, which she covered with a love heart embellishment:During the performance, the top came loose, exposing her other (non-covered) breast and momentarily leaving her entirely topless.Photos from the performance show De Angelis with the top down around her wrists, still gamely playing on:MTV’s censoring of the performance was all the more noticeable thanks to one bizarre editing decision: They cut away not to a wide shot of the arena as the band performed, but to previously recorded footage of the completely empty arena before the show had even started.Maneskin’s memorable performance came as the VMAs jammed several headline-grabbing moments into its final 20 minutes or so: Minutes later, producers were again under fire after they hurriedly cut away as Puerto Rican rap superstar Bad Bunny kissed both a female and male dancer during his performance (an act that saw some fans question whether the performer had just used his award show slot to publicly come out as bisexual). And accepting the night’s final award for Video of the Year, Taylor Swift once again proved she’s a master of publicity by using her acceptance speech to announce that next studio album would be released on October 21.A short time later, a post to her socials revealed the record will be 13 tracks of all-new material, titled Midnights.
