Meta Connect sets Oct. 11 date for our next peek at Zuck’s metaverse

This morning, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a smiling photo of himself sporting a slim virtual reality headset to Facebook. It was Zuck’s way of announcing the ninth annual Meta Connect conference, slated for October 11, 2022.

The virtual event is open to all and will be available to stream from the Reality Labs Facebook page beginning at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.

The device Zuck’s sporting in the invite image looks to be an iteration of the new, flatter “holocake” technology Meta teased earlier this year.

As for what’s on deck at Connect 2022, the company is expected to share details around the rumored “Meta Quest Pro.” Reports have pegged the device as a $1,000 version of the Quest 2, with upgraded processing power, screen resolution, new controllers, eye tracking, and external cameras meant for use at work.

Earlier this year, Meta shared the far-in-the-future VR features it has under development at its Reality Labs headquarters. At Meta Connect, Meta execs may also give us an idea of where those technologies will be applied and when we can expect to have them in our hands… er… on our faces.
