There are a few brands that make my ears perk up when they announce a new launch. Summer Fridays, the simple yet efficacious skincare brand founded by Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Ireland, is one of those brands. Ask any beauty editor, and they have at least one product from Summer Fridays that they absolutely live for.
The brand originally rose to internet fame with its Jet Lag mask, a creamy face mask that’s like a drink of water for parched skin. From there, it’s expanded to lip butters, serums, oils, and more—but never makeup. Until now, that is.
Summer Fridays is finally making its debut on the makeup scene with the new Sheer Skin Tint. In 10 flexible shades, the skin tint provides lightweight coverage that helps even skin tone, cancel redness, and make pores appear less prominent. Like most Summer Fridays products, it’s also supremely hydrating. It’s a seamless addition to the Summer Fridays line—plus, Kim Kardashian recently posted a picture of it on her Instagram.

I’m always skeptical when a beloved brand tests the waters in a new category—usually, I think its best for brands to stick with what they know. When it comes to the Summer Fridays Sheer Skin Tint, however, I think it’s a pretty natural next step from the brand’s current lineup. It doesn’t stray too far from the cornerstones of the brand—it’s packed with nourishing ingredients like tiger grass to curb redness, glycerin and hyaluronic acid to plump skin, and emollients to deeply moisturize. The texture is similar to the brand’s new sunscreen, so it’s milky and practically liquid.
I was immediately wowed by how well it sinks into skin. I took this with me to a workout class, so I didn’t have any brushes or application tools I would typically use to apply face makeup, and I just used my fingers. It blended in so easily. I find that even with the best makeup, you can typically still see that you’re wearing makeup—but this skin tint goes on without a trace. I’d recommend this if you’re going for a no-makeup makeup look, as it evens skin and blurs imperfections. This definitely won’t replace your fuller-coverage foundations, but it did a better-than-expected job of hiding my dark circles (which were very prominent pre-application) and covering a few blemishes on my chin. I used a tiny bit of concealer on a couple areas, but for the most part, I didn’t feel like I needed it. TL;DR: I will be adding this to my lineup.
“This is definitely one of the nicer skin tints I’ve used. I’m not usually a big fan of skin tints, because the coverage is a bit too sheer for me, but lately, I’ve been playing with adding layer of concealer under the skin tint, and it creates a really nice finish! I love that this one is loaded with hydrating ingredients like squalane, hyaluronic acid, and tiger grass, which soothes redness. I think it will also be nice for days I want to wear something light and don’t want to do a full face. Tiger grass is great for calming the look of breakouts too, so if you have acne-prone skin like I do, you’ll definitely want to give it a try! Overall, it’s a really nice formula. I probably won’t wear it every day, but I’ll bust it out occasionally on lazy days.”
