Joe Biden called the mayors of Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater to discuss Hurricane Ian.
However, according to the FEMA manager, Joe Biden has not spoken to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R).
“[Biden] held separate calls today with Mayor Jane Castor of Tampa, Mayor Ken Welch of St. Petersburg, and Mayor Frank Hibbard of Clearwater to discuss preparations for the potential impacts from Hurricane Ian,” a readout of Biden’s calls with Florida officials said.
“The President spoke with the Mayors about the potential impacts of Ian and ongoing efforts Federal, State and local governments are taking…”
Hurricane Ian crossed over Cuba as a category 3 on Tuesday morning.
“The well-defined eye of Ian emerged off the coast of western Cuba about an hour ago, with a maximum sustained wind speed of 100kt/115mph — a category three hurricane.” the National Weather Service said at 11 am ET.
Hurricane Ian is expected to hit Florida by late Wednesday or Thursday morning as a major storm.
Yet Joe Biden won’t be speaking with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis about the federal government’s response efforts.
Imagine the headlines if Trump snubbed a Democrat governor as a category 3 hurricane approached the state.
