‘Oppressed’ Rapper Lizzo Twerks While Playing James Madison’s 200-Year-Old Flute: ‘B**** I Just Twerked And Played James Madison’s Flute’

Melissa Viviane Jefferson, better known as the rap artist Lizzo, played a 200-year-old crystal flute once owned by Founding Father James Madison in skimpy dress while “twerking.”

The media celebrated it as if it was a historical accomplishment.

Ever the gifted orator, Lizzo, who is a classically trained flutist, played a few notes and exclaimed, “Bitch, I just twerked and played James Madison’s flute from the 1800s.”

Carla Hayden, the librarian at the Library of Congress, tweeted last week that she hoped to see Lizzo play the flute, a gift given to Madison in 1813 by the French flute maker Claude Laurent in honor of his second inauguration.

The @librarycongress has the largest flute collection in the world with more than 1,800. It incl Pres James Madison’s 1813 crystal flute. @lizzo we would love for you to come see it and even play a couple when you are in DC next week. Like your song they are “Good as hell.” pic.twitter.com/2FkUFZfIYh

The Library of Congress made it happen, using several Capitol Police officers to help escort the flute to the concert at Capitol One Arena in Washington on Tuesday.

We’re glad they had time to do so all while fighting off threats to democracy and insurrections.

The music star, who is heralded as a “body positivity” pioneer, was seen in video at the concert playing away while wearing an interesting stage outfit.

NOBODY HAS EVER HEARD THIS FAMOUS CRYSTAL FLUTE BEFORE

IM THE FIRST & ONLY PERSON TO EVER PLAY THIS PRESIDENTIAL 200-YEAR-OLD CRYSTAL FLUTE— THANK YOU @librarycongress pic.twitter.com/VgXjpC49sO

Lizzo and James Madison’s Flute

Speaking at a first-grade reading level, Lizzo continued to share just how cool it was to play James Madison’s crystal flute.

“Thank you to the Library of Congress for preserving our history and making history cool. History is freaking cool, you guys!”

See Lizzo play the flute. Lizzo plays great. Go, Lizzo, go!

Naturally, the media swooned at the moment.

Sierra Fox, a reporter for Fox 5 in Washington, D.C., said the incident was “super amazing to witness.”

“HISTORY IS FREAKIN’ COOL” –@lizzo! Of course – it’s the nation’s capital so @SecretService & @CapitolPolice joined her on stage. Why? Because she is the FIRST ever to play President James Madison’s 1813 crystal flute courtesy of @librarycongress. Super amazing to witness! pic.twitter.com/aQRSsVhrv0

The New York Times celebrated Lizzo playing James Madison’s flute as “a symbolic moment.”

CNN’s write-up was positively hilarious: “She blew a few more fluttery notes on it, cautiously twerking as she played, as is her signature. After a few seconds, she held the flute high in the air, victorious, and carefully returned it to the staff waiting a few feet away.”

Victorious. A symbolic moment.

James Madison is a Founding Father, author of the Federalist Papers and the initial drafts of the Bill of Rights, resulting in his being referred to as the “Father of the Constitution,” and the fourth President of the United States.

He is regarded as one of the greatest statesmen ever to walk on this Earth.

Lizzo… well, she twerks a lot in ill-fitting clothes and doesn’t care what people think about it. So yea, truly historic and on par with other great moments in this nation’s history.

The Library of Congress really took out a 200-year old flute that belonged to James Madison just so Lizzo could twerk with it.

They degrade our history and then call you racist if you actually value it. https://t.co/i5cHjl5RXX

She Used to be ‘Oppressed’

Just one month prior to playing James Madison’s flute on stage, Lizzo accepted a “Video for Good” award at MTV’s “Video Music Awards” and promptly declared that she is ‘oppressed.’

“So I don’t know what music ‘video for good’ means, but I do know what your vote means,” she told the crowd. “And that’s your vote means everything. To me.”

“It means everything to making a change in this country,” expressed Lizzo. “So remember when you’re voting for your favorite artists vote to change some of these laws that are oppressing us.”

From being an ‘oppressed’ celebrity to playing the crystal flute of a Founding Father.

All while making millions by being unable to string together two full sentences using the English language and being heralded as a role model for wearing little more than a band-aid at all times and not giving a rip what she looks like.

Man, what a country.
