When it comes to fashion trends and my personal style, you’ll usually catch me hanging in my minimalist, ’90s-inspired corner. As a creative director and fashion editor, it’s my job to keep my finger on the pulse of reigning and emerging trends, especially those that are polarizing. For the most part, I pass on the ones creating the most discourse when it comes to my own wardrobe. Each season, however, I am surprised to see which of the controversial pieces get their hooks into me.
At the moment, the polarizing trends that I find myself appreciating more and more seem to stem purely from nostalgia. For example, I can’t help but think of the Olsen twins’ glory days with the resurgence of giant bags. With baggy jeans popping up everywhere, I am immediately transported to my days of wearing JNCO jeans. Ahead, check out five of the trends that have my attention this season. Can I pull them all off? No, but I will 100% appreciate seeing how the fashion set styles them.
