The midterm elections are revealing many things about Republicans. One of those things is that there is apparently a “mean girls” wing of the party. Failed Never Trumper Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) appeared yet again to delight in the defeat of a real conservative.
Cheney responded to a tweet from Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake from late last month when Cheney announced that she would be campaigning for Lake’s opponent, Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs.
Lake called out Cheney’s campaigning for the Democrat candidate with a letter which read in part, “In fact, my team telIs me your commercial should add another 10 points to our lead! I guess that’s why they call the Cheney anti-endorsement the gift that keeps on giving.”
Lake added, “Thank you again for the huge boost to our campaign! Enjoy your forced retirement from politics. I know America will rest easier knowing that one more warmonger is out of office.”
Liz Cheney is finishing her final months in office after a crushing 37 point defeat in Wyoming’s August GOP primary against Harriet Hageman, who went on to win the election last week for Wyoming’s at-large House seat.
Warhawk Liz Cheney, who couldn’t even win her own primary, taking credit for Katie Hobbs via attack ads on Kari Lake, in combination with these cringe throwbacks to Warhawk John McCain tells you everything you need to know about how much stake the establishment had in this race.

Stay Classy Liz
In a report from the Associated press, the Arizona governor’s race was called Monday night for Hobbs, who narrowly defeated Lake 50.41% to 49.59%. The race could go to an automatic recount per state law.
After the election had been called for Hobbs, Cheney tweeted out a copy of Lake’s letter with the caption above saying, “You’re welcome @KariLake.

While Kari Lake was narrowly defeated, and the election may go to a recount, the people of Wyoming resoundingly rejected Cheney’s reelection.
Much of that might be traced to Cheney’s obsession with former President Donald Trump and her pursuit of him through her work on the House Committee on Jan 6.
In Arizona, the Mitch McConnell-affiliated Senate Leadership Fund pulled millions of dollars of campaign ads from Senate candidate Blake Masters. Ads that could have had cross over appeal for Kari Lake in the governor’s race.
Sore loser (by nearly 40 pts!) Liz Cheney’s dig at Kari Lake does NOT go the way she thought it would https://t.co/ADp6XVpJt4 via @twitchyteam

Cheney vs Lake
Liz Cheney hit the campaign trail for Democrats before the Arizona governor’s race. Prior to the election, she made a trip to Michigan to campaign for Democrat Rep. Elissa Slotkin’s reelection. Slotkin is a fellow Jan. 6 Committee member.
The weekend before the election, Cheney endorsed Rep. Abilgail Spanberger (D-VA) over Republican Yesli Vega in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District. Cheney also endorsed Arizona Democrat Secretary of State candidate Adrian Fontes, and Ohio Democrat Sen. Tim Ryan.
But while Liz Cheney was busy endorsing Democrats and slinging snark, Kari Lake put on full display the difference between herself and Liz Cheney.
When Kari Lake was asked about an attack ad against her that used the mother of slain Capitol Hill Police Officer Brian Sicknick, instead of taking the bait from the media about the ad, Lake said this:
“I am so sorry about the death of your son. It is tragic. I’m a mother myself, and that is, it breaks my heart. That is a wound when you lose a child, no matter how old they are, that never heals. And so I don’t want to disparage her. She doesn’t know me, I wasn’t anywhere near the Capitol on January 6, and I understand that her son died, I think the following day of a stroke or natural causes. And I feel for her, I see the pain in her eyes, and I would never try to disparage or hurt her, because I know a mother that has pain like that, there’s no way to heal that.”
Thanks, Wyoming.
