AMD’s huge popularity in the CPU segment can be seen in the number of online searches for its Ryzen chips compared to Intel.
Study Analyzes AMD & Intel CPU Popularity Through Online Searches, Ryzen Secures Top Spot & 5600X Leads With Over 10 Million Searches
There’s no doubt that AMD’s Ryzen CPU has been the popular choice amongst gamers and also productivity users ever since it launched. While we have several sales figures & reports to validate our claim, Raul Bilc of Razzem has once again shared an interesting study he conducted by taking the search data of 151 CPUs released since 2019 of which 33 are AMD and 118 are Intel chips. The data was then compared within a chart to see what CPUs were the most searched and it looks like the data isn’t that far off from the actual sales figures.
Starting with the results, AMD secured all top 10 spots in searches with six out of 10 chips having 5 Million+ search figures. The top chip from team AMD was the Ryzen 5 5600X which secured over 10 million searches while the Ryzen 7 5800X3D secured around 4.6 Million searches. It is amazing how the X3D chip has managed to secure 5 Million searches within a year of its release whereas the rest of the chips are at least 2 years old.
This is due to the vast popularity of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU which has only been realized until recently with huge discounts dropping the chip close to $300 US which is an amazing value to all gamers. With that said, we can’t wait to see what the Ryzen 7000 X3D parts are able to do within their first few months of release.
The AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs have only been out for a few months but it looks like the 7950X is the most popular chip searched on the web with almost 1.5 million searches followed by the 7600X which recently broke the 1 million search figure. The Ryzen 7700X and 7900X are unable to secure over a million searches for now but that might change with all the recent price cuts we have seen on those parts.
Moving over to Intel, the Core i9-12900K, and the Core i5-12400 take up the 16th and 17th spot in searches, respectively. These chips secured around 2.8 million searches each which is a far cry from the AMD Ryzen parts and it’s not even like these CPUs are that new. They were released in 2021/2022 so they’ve been around for over a year now. Following is the full data set by Razzem:
The percentage split of searches between the AMD Ryzen & Intel Core CPUs is almost entirely reflected in the sales at MindFactory. Our fellow friend, TechEpiphany has shared the latest statistics from the retailer which show that AMD retains the top spot and the top three best processors (in terms of sales) are the 5700X, 5800X3D, & 5600 (this week). The following tweets provide more info:

This is definitely very interesting data and once again, while it doesn’t reflect the actual number of sales, it does gives us an idea of what CPUs are most popular amongst consumer as they generate more buzz.
