With smaller and more powerful 14-inch laptops arriving in higher frequency, we should be greeted with the Razer Blade 14 2023 version real soon. Like the previous model, the upcoming machine is said to be paired with the latest AMD Ryzen CPU and an NVIDIA RTX 4000 series laptop GPU. Here are all the details you will be interested in that helps the gaming laptop stack up well against the 14-inch 2023 MacBook Pro.
The Razer Blade 14 2023 is said to arrive with a Ryzen 9 7940HS and an RTX 4070; no word if more powerful configurations will be available in the future
The specifications provided by _rogame indicate that the Razer Blade 14 2023 will arrive with the latest and greatest components that can be fitted in a gaming laptop of this size. With a Ryzen 9 7940HS and an RTX 4070, the Blade 14 should deliver top-tier gaming performance, but the name of the components is not enough to better judge the machine’s capabilities.

While we know that the Ryzen 9 7940HS is an 8-core, 16-thread part that can boost up to 5.20GHz, the power limit of the RTX 4070 is unknown at this time when running in the newer 14-inch gaming laptop. However, the 2022 version of the Razer Blade 14 could be equipped with up to an RTX 3080 Ti running up to a 100W with NVIDIA’s Dynamic Boost enabled. However, the GPU’s power limit dropped down to 90W when running a combined CPU and GPU workload.
A taller display will be more appreciated on the newer, eliminating the bottom bezel
With the 2023 model, either Razer could stick with the same 100W power limit or increase it slightly and with the RTX 4070’s exclusive features, such as DLSS 3.0 and Frame Generation, owners can experience significantly higher framerates in supported games. Sadly, the RTX 4070’s 8GB GDDR6 VRAM limit might prove to be a bottleneck in upcoming games, and it is unclear if more powerful SKUs sporting an RTX 4080 will arrive. Given that Razer crammed in an RTX 3080 Ti in the same model last year, we have high hopes.

Unlike the 14-inch 2023 MacBook Pro, the new Razer Blade 14 will likely take advantage of a vapor chamber cooler to tame the powerful components. It will be interesting to see how the Ryzen 9 7940HS will perform in a chassis like this, as it is more power-efficient than last year’s Ryzen 9 6900HX. During CES 2023, AMD boasted that its latest CPU is 30 percent faster than Apple’s M1 Pro and can deliver up to 30 hours of battery life. Looking at these claims, we are excited to see how the M2 Pro in the 14-inch MacBook Pro will perform against the new Blade 14.
We believe that there will be little to no upgradeability on the upcoming gaming laptop. With the exception of the PCIe NVMe drive and Wi-Fi card, the RAM will most probably be soldered to the motherboard, just like the earlier iterations. This time around, we hope to see the Razer Blade 14 2023 provide a 32GB DDR5 RAM option, as several AAA titles have become quite memory intensive. Of course, if buyers want to upgrade to this version, they should be prepared to shell out a ton of money for the updated Blade 14.
