While I invest in trendier picks each season, basics make up the majority of my closet. On that note, I’m always on the hunt for fresh pieces that could become my new essentials. And yes, I consistently find new wardrobe front-runners at Alex Mill.
I actually had the opportunity to try on pieces from the spring collection. Unsurprisingly, I uncovered a few very special gems that have the power to become true staples. You’ll find my honest review of each of the new items in question below. While each find is unique in its own right, everything hits my criteria of a top-notch basic—easy to style, comfortable, and modern.

My review: I’ve been on the hunt for a casual suit I can wear with a T-shirt when I want a dressier vibe but not full-on formal. And yes, I’ve officially found the perfect option. This blazer-and-pants combo (note: the pieces are sold separately) is lightweight and is a washed cotton-linen blend, making it ideal for the season. While I plan on wearing the items together, the blazer could pair flawlessly with jeans and the trousers with another shirt or sweater, so the versatility is top-notch.
My review: Dreamy cashmere? Check. This investment sweater is a certified staple with lightweight fabric to make it work for spring. It’s honestly so soft—I just want to pet it.
My review: It’s the color that spoke to me first with this piece. Red is the moment, and I adore the boldness of this piece. Regardless of the statement-making hue, the jacket is so easy to style with other basics. Styling tip? Try adding a sweater around your shoulders for a more dimensional vibe.
My review: I’ll be honest. I was skeptical at first about trying these pants because I primarily stick to denim, but I’m officially converted. These are a great alternative to jeans. I’m into the lived-in look and the slightly wider cut.
My review: This is another standout cashmere pick with the ribbed design detail to note. I opted for an even larger size than my normal for a cool, relaxed vibe.
My review: A striped shirt is a no-fail essential. It’s classic, and the relaxed fit of this one gives it a very modern feel. The fabric is also substantial (you can tell the quality) but isn’t heavy and uncomfortable. I like half-tucking it for that low-key silhouette.
My review: The product name says it all here. This poplin shirt is just easy. It has an of-the-moment oversize silhouette, and the fabric feels lived-in. Yes, you’ll just want to live in it.
