33 New-In Pieces I Would Never Kick Out of My Wardrobe

It’s that time when I round up some of the most impressive pieces, in terms of quality, wearability and design over the past month. If you’re planning to invest in forever staples, look no further, as I’ve taken the hassle of trawling the internet off your hands to assemble a considered edit of what you might like to buy in June.

After years of denial, I’ve become accustomed to the fact the weather governs my fashion choices. It’s hard to truly embrace my style when bundled underneath quilted puffers, so the promise of summer is exhilarating and I’m tentatively peeling away layers. We’re now approaching the sweet spot where balmy days are less of an anomaly and I’m cautiously packing my brolly and embracing summer apparel—by that I mean sleeveless styles, open-toe sandals and languid dresses. My style veers towards frocks and full-skirted numbers. You’ll often find me in classic silhouettes and natural fabrics, which are synonymous with summer.

Although I don’t ascribe much to the fashion forecasts, the trends are speaking to me this year. Bandeau shapes, refined footwear, fun-spirited accessories and exaggerated shapes are characteristics I’ve built my style around, so it’s been a delight witnessing my preferred aesthetic in shop windows. This summer, I’m also embracing statement accessories and the effect subtle style elements can have on an outfit – be it bags in earthy hues, supple footwear or ’90s style chokers – there’s something to suit all tastes. I’m becoming increasingly impressed with the quality and timelessness of clothing on offer this year, thanks to the classic trends and there are plenty that make worthwhile investments.

Keep on reading for the 33 new-in pieces that have piqued my interest for June—including some lesser-known brands I’m eager to spotlight.

I’m increasingly impressed with Jigsaw’s collections. The latest drop includes this ethereal-looking frock. It also comes in top form, if you’re more of a trousers or jeans wearer.

This pleated bandeau loans texture to an otherwise simple design. This is a way to add intrigue to your wardrobe if you’re a lover of minimalist shaping and muted colours.

The Daphine x Abisola Omole collection is every bit as chic as you’d imagine considering the brian child of the collection. The Yemi earrings in particular have my heart. It’s a polished interlocked jewel that can easily transcend from day to night. It’s fashioned from recycled materials and responsibly crafted in Japir, which further adds to the appeal.

Drop waist skirts and ruching are popular style elements for 2023. This stunning number by Rhode features both.

When it comes to sensibly priced and expertly crafted bags Radley has some great contenders. The Hanley Close bag is one of their latest releases for summer. With minimal branding, a slightly boxy feel and this walnut hue, it’s a piece that will never date.

I spotted a preview of this By Malene Birger dress during the spring and I knew it would make its way into one of my edits. The shirring and light gauze makes this a suitable weave for those balmy days ahead. Pair it with a mahogany leather bag and matching sandals.

Keep your eyes peeled for the release of the Soeur suzon bag. This earthy moss colourway and modern shaping are hard to replicate.

From the shirred waist to the fullness, this skirt has many designer elements. I’m truly impressed.

I’ve made it my mission to scout designer-esque plus-size pieces, which unfortunately is no mean feat. I was pleased to discover Viveh – a label with the plus-size woman as the archetype. Their arsenal includes suave pieces with intentional details spanning sizes 34-50. Think creamy colourways, luxe fabrications and generous swathes of fabric.

I’ll never tire of bandeau styles and to my delight, there are many décolletage-bearing styles on offer this summer. These trend pieces make worthwhile investments in my wardrobe as the shaping is timeless and is in keeping with my personal style. I plan on wearing this shape throughout the decades and switching up accessories.

Essēn’s latest release is now available for all to buy. As the owner of a pair, I can confirm they’re one of the sleekest Mary-Jane iterations I’ve seen to date.

I adore column dresses because they act as a blank canvas. Pop on a pair of simple sandals and stack jewellery up high.

YSSO is the new jewellery brand to know. With bashed metals and organic shapes, their overstated earrings complement a pared-back frock like nothing else. I’d pair the Filo earrings with a bandeau silhouette and a slicked bun.

Pared-back simplicity from the forerunners of minimalism, Totême. I’d expect nothing less.

Easy-wearing linen pieces are best for the in-between months. Rixo added a waist trim to the length for a touch of glamour for the everyday.

Following the popularity of the Nappa bags, Massimo Dutti released a suede version for summer.

In addition to female-form homewares, Anissa Kermiche offers dainty jewels that are every bit as precious as her Popotin ceramic pots.

I love showcasing off-the-radar brands and I was pleased to stumble upon Augusta the Brand. On the site, you’ll find unique flats in fresh colourways.

I’m the biggest advocate for Baserange as a brand with a sustainable ethos, inclusivity and simple designs. I own this top in dress form and the top is every bit as special.

The time for linen is nigh. This number is a piece you can wear for most occasions due to its effortlessness.

Satin ballerinas make a chic alternative to summer sandals. I’m impressed by this pair by LK Bennett. The sheen and supple fabrication liken it to a highly sought-after designer item.

I’ve been reaching for this ring for a month. It adds a modern lift to all of my outfits. I’m certainly biased (as we share the same name) but it’s rather chic and has become a piece of my uniform.

Allbirds excell on the comfort and sustainability front. Mark my words, these are some of the most comfortable ballerina flats I’ve ever tried!

Boteh pieces shine during the summer months as the brand specialises in resort wear and natural fabrications. The newer styles are available for purchase on Matches and include easy-wearing pieces. The crochet wrap is a marrying of the peek-through and crochet knit trend that still lives on.

Every now and again I’ll covet a floral print motif. This sheer underlay and silken fabrication is akin to the styles straight from the runway.

C. Nicol is a Scottish-born brand that celebrates high-grade materials and sustainable production. The capsule consists of crisp designs crafted from supple Italian leather and made to stand the test of time.

Most of Palm Noosa’s pieces are adorned with jovial motifs but I’m also drawn to their classic style. This piece epitomises a slow and sun-filled holiday.

Embossed wicker bags have become a summer staple. If you’re looking for a refined option, The Slow Label have crafted a unique iteration of the basket. With a cylindrical shape and removable pouch, it’s both a practical and fashion-forward design.

Much to my delight, there has been an influx of last season’s Jacquemus landing on the Outnet daily, so if anything piqued your interest last year you may be glad you held out. This is my pick of the bunch. I’d style it with the Radley bag in this edit and heels for date-night.

Due to the popularity of the live-action Little Mermaid, ‘Mermaidcore’ is shaking up the fashion world with playful jewellery releases. Much to my delight as a water baby, pearl and shell adornments are woven amongst classic jewels. They’re also fairly timeless.

This season I’m embracing ‘more is more’ shaping and the taught waist on this design lends a fuller shape to the already pronounced skirt. Simply add a pair of ballerinas and you’ll be daytime-ready.

Perhaps 2023 is the year I finally embrace minis. If anything will convince me, it’ll be this sleek dress. Why not style it with lace-up heels and an oversized blazer?

The quality of Bobbies shoes is outstanding, it’s no wonder why the stores are on every fashionable corner of Paris. Last week, Bobbies released a collaboration with Wendy Swan with a focus on Parisian footwear heroes – including chunky flip-flops and heeled sandals.
