A French Woman Walks Into M&S—This Is What She’s Picking Up

Like so many others, I’ve been enamoured with French style for many years. Mystified by their je ne sais quoi approach, the French seem to have the unique ability to whip up a smart and considered outfit with anything you throw their way.

Ever inspired by the French fashion philosophy, I’ve taken to the British high street to assemble my French-inspired picks from my favourite fashion brands. First stop, Marks & Spencer, a pillar of the UK’s high-street, Marks & Spencer is renowned for their no-fuss approach to creating high-quality garments at affordable price points. What’s better, I hear that M&S is secretly a French-girl favourite for their excellent knits in natural fabrics, sturdy leathers and chic cuts.

To shop like a French woman, it’s important to look out for a few key things. Namely, we’re shopping for high-quality fabrics such as cashmere, wool, cotton or linen. We’re also keeping a keen eye for timeless designs that are anti-trend and able to be plucked out of our wardrobe season after season. Finally, it’s important to shop for chic layering items that can be built upon one-another to create a dynamic outfit and a wardrobe that works with itself seamlessly.

British influencer and disability advocate, Danielle Oreoluwa Jinadu styles a Marks & Spencer leather coat (£250). Marks & Spencer’s current collection champions French flair, focusing on outfit-completing coats, luxurious knits and easy-to layer basics—the latest collection was practically designed with the French-girl in mind.  Read on to discover my edit of the French-girl finds you can track down at M&S.
