The M&S Boots That Fooled Everyone Into Thinking They’re Designer Are Back

It’s almost impossible to count the number of times that I’ve been stopped in the street and asked where an item I was wearing was from and the answer has been Marks and Spencer. What usually follows is surprise, but after years of uncovering hidden gems from the high-street hero, I’m always confident in the brand’s ability to deliver accessible takes on runway pieces, and it’s given me a lot of bragging rights.

Marks and Spencer has had a particularly good run of transitional pieces and standout accessories in the last few months, and now that we’re on the cusp of a crisp and cold winter perfect for boot season, I’ve found the latest piece about to be a bestseller, and it’s a designer dupe that looks far more expensive than its high-street price tag.

The brand’s chunky Chelsea flatform boots were a hot topic in the Who What Wear editor group chat last winter due to their style, practicality and price. Just when we’d been looking for a versatile and comfortable everyday boots, hey presto, we found it. And not only did they look good, but they felt good too thanks to the brand’s cushioned Insolia insoles, and I’m happy to report–they’re back in stock.

After being confidently sold on the classic black style, I spotted @mihaelanedeva in the equally chic cream colourway, making my final decision that much more difficult. My advice? If you’re ready to swap out last year’s boots for something a little more special, don’t settle for just any winter ankle boots. Try M&S winter ankle boots. They sold out once, and they’re guaranteed to do it again.

The versatile black pair that I’d wear with everything from straight-leg jeans to printed dresses.

Or switch up the classic black for a fresher, matte cream.

I love everything about this statement block heel. So chic.

Top of my list? A simple ankle boot with a square toe and a wearable heel that is anything but boring.

Everything about the shape and colour of this boot is bang on trend.

But don’t worry, they come in black mock croc too.

Casual weekends, pub gardens, walking the dog… You name it; this boot does it.

Haven’t already read our autumn shopping guide? Biker styling tops the list as the cool-girl style to invest in now.

Ankle boots can be evening appropriate, too. Just look at this elegant, pointy suede pair for proof.

Sleek and timeless, with a nod to the cowboy boot trend. What’s not to love?

There’s something about suede that instantly elevates this style.

Tell me you didn’t think these would cost at least double their price tag.
