During a concert in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma earlier this month, the country music star Jason Aldean gave fans the surprise of their lives when he brought Toby Keith onstage with him for a surprise performance. Both men are popular country music stars who are known for their conservative views, and they each have supported Donald Trump in the past.
This was an especially touching move, as Keith has been battling stomach cancer for over a year, which has stopped him from being able to perform.

Aldean And Keith’s Surprise Performance
“There’s only one guy that you kinda think of when you come to Oklahoma City….make some noise for the Big Dawg Daddy, Toby Keith!” Aldean, 46, said as the crowd immediately erupted in cheers.
“I’m on my rehab tour,” Keith, 62, said jokingly. “If I’m not at my bar, I’m down at Hollywood Corners or I’m on stage with Jason Aldean. The Almighty’s been riding shotgun and my ass is ready to get back to work!”
Aldean and Keith then teamed up to sing the latter’s 1991 hit song “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.”
“I should’ve been a cowboy/ I should’ve learned to rope and ride/ Wearin’ my six-shooter, ridin’ my pony on a cattle drive/ Stealin’ the young girls’ hearts/ Just like Gene and Roy/ Singin’ those campfire songs/ Woah, I should’ve been a cowboy,” the pair sang.

Keith’s Cancer Battle
Last month, Keith updated his fans on how his cancer journey is going.
“I feel pretty good,” he told E! News. “It’s a little bit of a roller coaster. You get good days and, you know, you’re up and down, up and gown. It’s always zero to 60 and 60 to zero but I feel good today.”
Back in June, he said that he was “feeling pretty good” after the tumor in his stomach shrank by a third.
“Basically, everything is in a real positive trend… [but] you never know with cancer, so you have to prepare,” he said at the time. “I’ve got more wind. And I’m thinking about bringing the band in and setting up, playing two or three days somewhere, just to see if I can get through two hours.”

Full Story: Toby Keith Launches Comeback After Stomach Cancer Diagnosis – Returning To Concert Stage For First Time
Fox News reported that Keith is set to take the stage at the Dolby Live theater at Park MGM to perform two concerts on on December 10 and 11. These will be Keith’s first official shows since he revealed his cancer diagnosis to the world back in June of 2022.
“I was going to sit around here and do nothing like I have been, or get up and go outside and don’t let the old man in,” Keith continued, referencing his recent single “Don’t Let the Old Man In,” which you can check out in the video below.
Perhaps it was his surprise performance with Aldean that gave Keith the itch to perform again. God bless Aldean for setting that up, and God bless Keith for continuing to persevere through his cancer battle!
