Mitt Romney Says He Would Vote for Democrats Over Trump or Vivek

Mitt Romney says he would be happy to vote for any of the Republican candidates running for president.

Except Donald Trump and Vivek Ramaswamy. In that case, he’d rather pull the lever for the Blue Team.

The 2012 GOP presidential nominee made his remarks during an interview with NBC’s Norah O’Donnell on the program Person to Person.

‘Maybe Not Vivek’

When O’Donnell asked which candidates he “liked” on the Republican side, Romney replied, “Anybody. You know, I’d be happy to support virtually any one of the Republicans” other than Trump.

Romney then added, “Maybe not Vivek.”

“The others that are running are acceptable to me and I’d be happy to vote for them,” Romney added.

Romney then said he would also be “happy” to support a “number of” the Democrats who are running in the 2024 White House race.

Though he did not name any specific Democrats, Romney said of one possibly winning, “It would be an upgrade from, in my opinion, Donald Trump, and perhaps also Joe Biden.”

Vivek Strikes Back

Ramaswamy, in turn, let everyone know that he believes Romney simply opposes any “America First” agenda more than an actual candidate, and that he didn’t vote for Romney for president in 2012.

Ramaswamy shared on X, “Turns out he’s opposed to America-First itself, not just one man.”

“Newsflash, Mitt: I didn’t vote for you either & I still call on your niece Ronna to resign,” he added.

“Ronna” is current head of the Republican National Committee, Ronna McDaniel, who Ramaswamy had called on to resign during the last Republican presidential debate.

Ramaswamy has said that while he is running against Trump in the GOP primaries, he intends to carry on Trump’s “America First” philosophy as president.

Vivek said he was also not surprised at Romney’s non-support of him or his campaign.

Not surprising. https://t.co/S8QhSXyen9

Trump on Romney: ‘Total Loser’

In October, Trump called Romney a “total loser that only a mother could love.”

Trump endorsed Romney’s 2018 U.S. Senate campaign in Utah. In September, Romney announced he would not be seeking re-election for his senate seat in 2024.

Trump would later write on Truth Social, “I am very proud to be the one who forced this Left Leaning RINO out of politics. He wanted to run sooo badly, but knew he couldn’t win in the great State of Utah without my Endorsement and Support, so he QUIT,”

Republican primary polling has consistently showed Trump with a runaway lead over every other candidate including Vivek Ramaswamy.
