Ex-Trump Adviser ‘So Disappointed’ with Republicans’ Broken Promises

Peter Navarro, former trade adviser and White House official for President Donald Trump and popular political commentator, is angry with new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Republicans overall.

“And I was so disappointed, so disappointed with Speaker Johnson and our Republican House,” Navarro said during an interview with Steven Bannon on his ‘War Room’ podcast.

What was he disappointed about? Chances are, his complaints might be quite common among conservatives who were promised changes once Republicans took control of the House.

Is there anybody on ‘Capitol Hill who understands the gravity of the situation?’

Mediaite reports:

I don’t know what these people were thinking in there, but they just have not delivered on the fiscal cliff. They have not delivered on communist China. They have not delivered on the border. I think it’s like what is going on in their heads, is there not nobody on Capitol Hill who understands the gravity of the situation?

And you were talking offline during the commercial about how they’re going to push the C.R. over again. It’s like, you know, ahh, Donald Trump is going to be president in 2025, but boy, aren’t we going to have a mess of problems we’re going to have to solve because they’re not doing it now.

Navarro has a point.

We know Democrats aren’t going to do a thing to curtail runaway spending and reduce the debt, so that leaves it up to Republicans.

But what have they done, besides make campaign promises every two years for decades?

There have been some suggestions about spending offsets – the idea of taking money away from the new IRS agents budgeted in the so-called ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ was a great idea by Speaker Johnson.

But what about actual cuts?

The same could be said about dealing with China. The same could be said about dealing with our broken border, over which untold millions have flooded across, at a cost that can’t possibly be quantified.

Broken border costs taxpayers billions each year

Fox News reported this month:

A new House Homeland Security Committee report has found that the ongoing migrant crisis at the southern border could cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars each year, as Republicans blame what they say are “open borders” policies from the Biden administration.

The report is the committee’s fourth interim report on DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ handling of the border crisis, which saw more than 2.4 million migrant encounters at the southern border in FY 23. The report focuses on the financial costs of the crisis, which it attributes to the Biden administration’s policies.

“Only a small fraction [of the costs] is ever recouped from the taxes paid by illegal aliens, with the rest falling on the shoulders of American citizens and lawful residents,” the report added.

That’s just the beginning of the nightmare at the border. In just two months, 21 child sex predators were caught at the border. But that was just in one sector. And that was just who was caught.

That doesn’t count the human smuggling. Or the body armor and weapons smuggling.

So what are Republicans going to actively do about this?

Nothing so far, apparently. And that is disappointing, to say the least.
