Report: Biden Administration Caught In False Narrative About Illegal Immigrant Drownings In Texas

Recent reports have highlighted a concerning incident involving the drowning of a woman and two children at the southern border near Eagle Pass, Texas.

The Joe Biden administration initially claimed that Texas officials had blocked U.S. Border Patrol agents from attempting to provide emergency assistance to the drowning migrants.

The claim stems from a move by the Texas National Guard to take control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, a city property where mass illegal crossings have been occurring, and restricting Border Patrol from accessing the area. The Political Insider reported on the Guard’s seizure of the park last week.

A White House spokesperson issued a statement specifically stating agents were “blocked” from assisting those illegal aliens who had been in distress.

“On Friday night, a woman and two children drowned near Eagle Pass, and Texas officials blocked U.S. Border Patrol from attempting to provide emergency assistance,” the spokesperson said.

Biden Admin Lied About Texas Officials Blocking Emergency Assistance To Drowning Migrants

White House and Democrat officials were adamant in blaming Texas for the migrant drownings, specifically the state’s Republican Governor Greg Abbott.

The spokesperson for the White House pointed a finger at Abbott’s “political stunts,” which they described as “cruel, inhumane, and dangerous.”

Likewise, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official asserted that Border Patrol agents “were physically barred” by Texas officials from entering the area when “responding to a distress call from the Mexican government.”

CBS rushed out a scoop that migrants had drowned at the border because Texas had “physically barred” border patrol from saving them.

Democrat Rep. Joaquin Castro (TX) claimed to NPR that Abbott is “bloodthirsty.”

“Intentionally keeping people from saving a drowning mother with her kids – that’s bloodthirsty,” he said in a false smear of the Texas governor. “You know, that’s ‘Lord Of The Flies’ stuff.”

None of these accusations were true, however. In fact, they were refuted by President Biden’s own Justice Department.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has since confirmed that the migrants had already drowned an hour before the Texas National Guard was even informed of the situation.

In a weekend Supreme Court filing, the Biden administration wrote that the U.S. Border Patrol wasn’t even aware of the tragedy until an hour after it happened — which is when they claim Border Patrol “requested access to the site … to secure two additional migrants” traveling with the deceased.

A day later, administration officials admitted Mexican authorities — not Texas — rescued the pair.

The Biden administration once again pushed a false narrative at the border, now refuted by their own DOJ.

Just Like The False ‘Whipping’ Allegations

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin compared the false narrative on the illegal immigrant drownings to misinformation about Border Patrol agents “whipping” Haitian illegal immigrants.

The Haitian migrants being whipped story from 2021 never happened. It was a media lie from the start, spread by a Democrat communications strategist who had no idea how horses and/or reins work, and who was willing to share an image from a dubious angle.

What’s unfathomable is the stupidity involved in thinking you’d get away with lying.

The truth, however, was quickly revealed. The agents were eventually cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, as it was revealed that they were using split reins to control their horses – not “whipping migrants.”

Even DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was eventually forced to definitively correct the record on the matter.

Mayorkas corrects April Ryan when she brings up the “Haitians being whipped with the reins of the horses,” noting “the investigation concluded that the whipping did not occur.”

“This, like the horseback patrol ‘whipping’ claims – took off as a false narrative, generating headlines that claimed Texas blocked a federal rescue effort, leading to the drownings of three migrants,” Melugin wrote on X.

“The DOJ now confirms, those migrants had been deceased for an hour before Texas was even alerted about it.”
