The former First Lady Melania Trump is finally set to return to her husband’s campaign trail after taking four months off to mourn her beloved mother Amalija Knavs, who died back in January at the age of 78.
Melania Returns To Campaign Trail
Politico reported that Melania is scheduled to hold her first major political event of the year on April 20, when she will host a fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans at her Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. The event will be the launch of the organization’s “Road to Victory” program, which plans to target voters in swing states.
Melania has been loyal for years to the Log Cabin Republicans, which describes itself as “ the nation’s largest Republican organization dedicated to representing LGBT conservatives and allies.” Melania was the special guest at a dinner the organization hosted back in 2021 at Mar-a-Lago, and she was even given a special award.
Last month, Melania told a reporter to “stay tuned” when asked when she would be returning to Donald Trump’s campaign trail, according to CNN.
Trump Discusses Melania’s Return
When asked last year if Melania would be joining him on the campaign trail, the former President Trump said that she would be “pretty soon.”
“She’s a private person, a great person, a very confident person, and she loves our country very much,” he said back in September. “And honestly, I like to keep her away from it. It’s so nasty and so mean.”
In February of this year, Trump said that Melania would be on the campaign trail “quite a bit” once her period of mourning for her mother was over.
“It’s funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person,” Trump said, according to The Hill. “She’s going to be out a lot. Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results. She wants to see this country really succeed. She loves the country.”
“You know, a lot of first ladies would go out — they want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband because he’s not introducing them,” he continued. “If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person.”
Melania’s Devotion To Barron
Trump went on to describe Melania as a “very brilliant person,” who “speaks many languages” and is devoted to their 18 year-old son Barron.
“Her life evolves around that boy,” Trump explained. “It’s so important to her. At the same time, it also revolves around our country and the success of our country. She’s raised a lot of money for charity. She’s a private person.”
“And she loves the country. She’s going to be out a lot but she does it for the good of the country, not for her,” he concluded. “She’s somebody with a lot of confidence. She doesn’t need that.”
One month before that, Trump said that Melania is “gonna play, and she always did play a big role. She was somebody that you could rely on.”
Melania Mourns Her Mother
Melania was left devastated by her beloved mother’s death, and she delivered a stirringly emotional eulogy at her funeral back in January.
“A ray of light in the darkest of days,” Melania said of her mother in the eulogy, according to Newsweek. “In her company, I found peace knowing that she would always be there to listen. She celebrated our successes and provided unwavering support during chaotic times.”
“Our bond was unbreakable,” she continued. “A testament to the power of a true love for one another. She was my dear friend. An irreplaceable treasure. A gift bestowed upon me by the universe. And for that, I am entirely grateful. Rest in peace, my beloved mommy.”
Despite what the left says about her, Melania was an incredible first lady, and there are millions of Americans who adore her. While it’s good that she took time off to mourn her mother, it’s great to see that she’s ready to return to the campaign trail, as she might just end up being her husband’s secret weapon!
