We expect Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) to focus mainly on software, but we have good news for the fans of Apple hardware — the AirPods Max just went on sale for a nice discount once again.
As of June 10, you can grab Apple AirPods Max for $449 at Amazon, saving you $100 off their usual $549 price tag. If you’re not a fan of Amazon, you can also grab them on sale at Best Buy for just 99 cents more. There was a time in the AirPods Max’s lifespan when it received this discount regularly, but in recent months, we’ve found the sales on these ultra-pricey headphones to be few and farther between. (We did see these headphones drop to just under $100 off about a month ago, but the price sprang back up between then and now).
Amazon is running this deal on every colorway, making this a good time to buy if you’ve been holding out. With that said, we don’t typically recommend the Max’s as our favorite AirPods for most people or as a pair of headphones we particularly love. We aren’t huge fans of the fact that they have no 3.5mm audio input, don’t come without a truly protective carrying case, don’t ever fully turn off, and most of all, come at a price tag a good $100 above their premium headphone competitors.
However, we do think they sound fantastic (even if there’s no customizable equalizer) and have some of the best active noise cancelling available. If you’re an Apple loyalist, these may be just the headphones for you. The only time we really recommend them is when they’re on sale, and though we wish they’d drop even lower to their $429 record-low price, that price is even more rare than this $100 price drop.
For any folks who love having the latest and greatest tech, there is a rumor that we’ll be getting an updated version of the AirPods Max later this year.
