President Trump has called for an investigation into pollster Ann Selzer and the ‘now-discredited’ Des Moines Register over a “fake Iowa poll” that favored Kamala Harris.
The poll, conducted by Selzer & Co, claimed that Harris was leading Trump in Iowa by 3 percent—a result that defied reality as Trump dominated the state by 13 points on Election Day.
This is the same pollster who got confused over basic polling terminology, specifically the meanings of “R” and “D” in her cross tabs.
Truly unbelievable.

Following the embarrassing poll and recent gaffe, Ann Selzer announced her retirement on Sunday, as The Gateway Pundit had previously reported.
In a column penned for the Des Moines Register, Selzer defended her career, touting her decades of work in polling and claiming an unblemished record—at least until her Iowa poll debacle.
She described polling as a “science of estimation” and acknowledged that “science has a way of periodically humbling the scientist.”
However, Selzer’s farewell read more like an excuse-laden retreat.
Over a year ago I advised the Register I would not renew when my 2024 contract expired with the latest election poll as I transition to other ventures and opportunities.

There were shocking polls for each, to be sure. In the end, my findings looked good. Over 30 years of polling led to an A+ rating in Nate Silver’s analysis of pollsters’ track records of accuracy. I earned that rating in Silver’s first list, and my grade never dropped. Maybe that history of accuracy made the outlier position too comfortable.
Polling is a science of estimation, and science has a way of periodically humbling the scientist. So, I’m humbled, yet always willing to learn from unexpected findings.

My integrity means a lot to me. To those who have questioned it, there are likely no words to dissuade. For those who know me best, I appreciate the supportive notes and calls reminding me that what drew me to them as friends, colleagues and clients was commitment to truth and accuracy — both in my professional and my personal relationships.
Trump wasted no time addressing Selzer’s record, taking to Truth Social to call for an investigation for possible “election fraud.”
Trump wrote:
“A totally Fake poll that caused great distrust and uncertainty at a very critical time. She knew exactly what she was doing.
Thank you to the GREAT PEOPLE OF IOWA for giving me such a record breaking vote, despite possible ELECTION FRAUD by Ann Selzer and the now discredited “newspaper” for which she works. An investigation is fully called for!”
