A Familiar Face Returns: Trump’s Inauguration Ushers in a New Chapter

OSTN Staff

As Donald Trump becomes president again at noon today, he comes armed with an agenda ready to go.

His team has prepared what may be the most aggressive Day One agenda in American history – some 200 executive orders designed to reshape the federal government.

“Every radical and foolish executive order of the Biden administration will be repealed within hours of when I take the oath of office,” Trump said at his rally yesterday. “You’re going to have a lot of fun watching television tomorrow.”

From TikTok to the Mideast, Trump has, in essence, been our president for at least the past month, as the Biden administration continued to simply fade away.

This isn’t the chaotic Trump of 2017. The scope reflects a fundamental change in Trump’s approach to power. His first administration learned the machinery of Washington through trial and error. This time, he’s assembled a team of DC veterans who not only support his agenda but understand how the federal bureaucracy operates, and how to make it work.

Here’s a sampling of what’s coming:

Border Security & Immigration

  • Declare national emergency at southern border
  • Direct the military to work with DHS
  • Reinstate “Remain in Mexico”
  • End “Catch and Release”
  • Designate cartels as terrorist organizations

Federal Workforce Reform

  • Terminate all federal DEI programs
  • Remove non-compliant federal workers and end remote work policies
  • Suspend security clearances for the 51 officials who mislead about Hunter Biden’s laptop
  • Establish a new Dept. of Government Efficiency hiring freeze

Energy & Environment

  • Open Alaskan energy production
  • Terminate Biden-era rules promoting electric vehicles
  • Withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord
  • Abolish the Green New Deal
  • Pause offshore wind leases

Social Policy

  • Establish biological sex definitions
  • Rename historical places
  • Grant clemency to at least some convicted of Jan. 6 offenses
  • Enable TikTok to remain operational

This agenda represents more than policy changes. It’s a blueprint for transforming how the federal government operates. Trump’s team has spent three years analyzing their first term’s successes and failures. They’ve identified pressure points in the bureaucracy and designed specific actions to address them.

The difference between 2017 and 2024 is stark. Then, Trump was a disruptor learning to govern. Now, he’s assembled a team that understands both his vision and the mechanics of federal power. They’re not coming to just drain the swamp – they’re coming to rebuild it in their image.

For Trump supporters, this signals the arrival of an administration ready to deliver from day one. For his opponents, it’s their worst nightmare: Trump with a plan.

Today marks the beginning of the most concentrated use of executive power in recent American history. By noon, we’ll see exactly what that means.
