Russia-Ukraine ‘Special Military Operation’: President Trump Calls on President Putin to “MAKE A DEAL” – “NO MORE LIVES SHOULD BE LOST!!!”

OSTN Staff

This morning, President Trump took to his Truth Social platform to issue a statement directed at Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin.  While stating that he has “always had a very good relationship with President Putin,” he offered Russia “a very big FAVOR” and called for Russia to “MAKE A DEAL.”  He said we can do it “the easy way, or the hard way – and the easy way is always better” before saying that he’d no other choice but to levy “Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions” on Russian goods sold in the US.

President Trump wrote:

I’m not looking to hurt Russia. I love the Russian people, and always had a very good relationship with President Putin – and this despite the Radical Left’s Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX. We must never forget that Russia helped us win the Second World War, losing almost 60,000,000 lives in the process. All of that being said, I’m going to do Russia, whose Economy is failing, and President Putin, a very big FAVOR. Settle now, and STOP this ridiculous War! IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE. If we don’t make a “deal,” and soon, I have no other choice but to put high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States, and various other participating countries. Let’s get this war, which never would have started if I were President, over with! We can do it the easy way, or the hard way – and the easy way is always better. It’s time to “MAKE A DEAL.” NO MORE LIVES SHOULD BE LOST!!!

President Trump has often said that he would end the war, or as Putin calls it “the special military operation,” between Ukraine and Russia quickly.  President Trump has previously hosted Volodymyr Zelensky at Mar-a-Lago for discussions on ending the war and there are reports that he has spoken with President Putin since he was elected in November, but those reports have not been confirmed, and in fact, were denied by the Kremlin.

In 2023, President Trump participated in a “town hall” hosted by CNN’s Caitlin Collins.  While the forum was meant to be a townhall format, it turned into more of a debate between President Trump and Collins, as the CNN host constantly inserted herself into the discussions between Trump and the audience.

But one question in particular had an answer that resonated with so many in the America First movement regarding our foreign policy.  An audience member asked President Trump:

“The current administration has made it clear that we should continue to provide military equipment to Ukraine so that they can defend themselves. Do you support this decision? And how would you deal with the increasing threat posed by Vladimir Putin?”

After he gave an answer to the audience member about the resources and funding we have allocated to Ukraine, he was pressed by Collins as to whether he wants Ukraine to win the war.

President Trump responded, “I don’t think in terms of winning and losing.  I think in terms of getting it settled so we stop killing all these people…” before adding, “I want everybody to stop dying.  They’re dying, Russians and Ukrainians.  I want them to stop dying.”

Following his inauguration, President Putin issued a public statement about President Trump’s “landslide victory.”

“Obviously, the election period was by all means not easy for President Trump with fierce pressure being exerted upon him and his family members all the way up to assassination attempts.  President Trump was courageous and enjoyed a landslide victory.  And now we see their statements about wishing to restore direct contacts with Russia suspended by the previous administration.

We’ve heard his commitment to do everything to prevent World War [III] (sic).  Of course, we welcome this approach and we congratulate the newly elected President of the United States on his inauguration.

We have never been against dialogue.  We have always been ready to maintain a peaceful relationship with any American administration…we would love to see the dialogue built upon equality and mutual respect considering the common positions on our country on a number of international issues including strengthening security and political stability.

We are also open for dialgoue with the new US Administration on the Ukrainian conflict.  The most important thing here is to eliminate the fundamental reason for the conflict.  That’s the most important and as for settling the situation itself, its goal should be [not be a brief ceasefire]…getting some time to regroup and rearm and carry on the conflict, but long-term peace based on respect to lawful interests of all people and nationalities living in the region.  Of course we’re going to fight for the interests of Russia and its people, [its] actually the goal and point of the special military operation…”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky continues to speak with European leaders and NATO countries regarding continued support for their defense industry.  This morning, Zelensky posted about several meetings with the Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, the Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenkovic, and, in Davos, several “owners of major companies” and Belgin PM Alexander De Croo and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot.
