Hailey Bieber’s Viral “Glazed Donut” Manicure Is So Easy to DIY—Here’s How

OSTN Staff

With Hailey Bieber making them an integral part of her brand, one thing is for sure: Glazed doughnuts have crossed my mind more than ever this summer. First, “glazed donut” skin took 2022 by storm thanks to the release of Bieber’s skincare line, Rhode, which is all about giving your skin a dewy, “glazed” finish. Now, there’s another sugar-inspired trend from Bieber that has the beauty world in a choke hold: “glazed donut” nails

Glazed donut nails look exactly like you might imagine—this trend makes your fingertips look like they’re covered in a glossy, milky frosting. The overall effect is a pearly, moonlit-white manicure that absolutely no one can stop talking about (or trying to re-create themselves).

Luckily, Bieber and her nail artist, Zola Ganzorigt, took to TikTok to demonstrate exactly what Ganzorigt does to Bieber’s nails to make them look so delectable. The secret sauce is use OPI’s Pale to the Chief. (Ganzorigt also shared a video with OPI using OPI’s Funny Bunny.) Mix it with a clear polish to thin it out, and then top it off with OPI’s chrome powder in Tin Man Can.

The problem? These colors are only available in-salon. If you look through the hashtag #haileybiebernails or #glazeddonutnails on TikTok, however, you’ll see plenty of attempts to re-create the look at home. Luckily, a few TikTokers seemed to have cracked the code for perfect glazed donut nails at home—and here are some of our favorite hacks.

Yes, this glazed donut nail hack requires a few types of polish, but the end result is worth it. Start with a coat of base polish, and then add a coat of Olive and June polish in BEB, a super-sheer white polish. From there, add a thin layer of Essie Expressie FX Collection Iced Out Top Coat (a holographic topcoat), and top that with a coat of Essie Gel Couture in Sheer Fantasy (a sheer baby pink). Seal it all in with a topcoat to make it last.

This hack is by far the simplest. One TikToker noticed that Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Luxe-Finish Nail Color in Silk Is…, which is a pearly, opalescent pale pink, looks remarkably similar to Bieber’s signature mani, without any of the extra steps. It’s hard to find right now thanks to its major dupe status, but I scoured and found that it’s still available at Walgreens. Orly Crystal Healing is another similar shade.

If you want to try your hand at DIY pigments, this is the TikTok hack for you. Start with a milky white sheer polish (you can mix your own, but OPI’s Funny Bunny works just as well), wait for it to get tacky, then apply iridescent white loose-pigment eye shadow on top. From there, paint on a topcoat for the ultimate glossy finish.
