Google offers a better look at the Pixel Tablet

We’ve known that the Pixel Tablet has been coming since I/O. It was one of a trio of upcoming hardware devices the company previewed. The other two — Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch — are arriving soon. Those who have been holding out for the company’s next swing at a tablet, on the other, are going to have to wait until next year.

The news device is designed to be the last major piece of the Pixel family. Naturally, the system runs Android, featuring Material You. The company says it’s partnered with a number of key developers to design apps specifically for the larger screen. All of that is powered by the same Tensor G2 chip announced for the new Pixel 7.

Most notable here is the addition of a new charging speaker dock. As the company notes, tablets stay at home around 80% of the time, so the accessory is effectively designed to double as a large Next Hub while charging.

The system docks magnetically to the dock, which is design to blend in with the rest of the Home/Nest line. It’s a clever addition that effectively helps the system fill the role of two key members of the Google hardware family.

The company is promising a better look at the Pixel Tablet closer to its 2022 launch.
