Whenever a new season rolls around, my screen time skyrockets—not because I’m spending more time on Instagram or other social media apps. (Okay, that’s not the full truth.) Mostly, I’m scouring the internet for new fashion finds, endlessly opening new tabs and promotional emails. I often spend so much time looking out for new brands and testing emerging trends that I forget about those tried and true retailers that are always worth coming back to.
Kohl’s has always been one of those retailers for me, and every time I find myself on the site, I remember how many chic and on-trend pieces it has each season. I’ve never been known to keep a good find to myself, so of course, I did my due diligence and spread the word to my fellow editors. Editor Jasmine Fox-Suliaman and senior fashion editor Judith Jones live on opposite coasts, but they were both in the market for new fall pieces they could tailor to their starkly different climates. The beginning of fall always brings back fond memories for Jasmine, who spent a lot of time scouring the racks of Kohl’s with her grandmother as a child. “Even though trends have changed and I’ve aged, I still derive so much joy from the experience of shopping at Kohl’s,” she says. And her fall-inspired ensemble here proves that Kohl’s continues to be on-trend and relevant. “You know those perfect fall days when you can wear a light jacket, dress, and boots? Well, this look encapsulates that energy to a T.” According to Jasmine, not only is this outfit perfect for the transition between seasons, but you could wear it anywhere from work to date night to an apple-picking adventure. Whenever I’m not sure what to wear but know that I want to look classic with a trend-forward touch, I take a quick peek at Judith’s Instagram for inspo. This fall, Judith decided to “switch up the jeans game and lean toward wide-leg and flared silhouettes that feel fresh.” She’s pairing these pants with a chic blazer (perfect for day or night) and versatile boots that are stylish and easy to walk in. That intersection of comfort and style is another thing that Kohl’s nails every time. I mean, can you ever go wrong with jeans, a tank, and a chic blazer? Plus, it doesn’t hurt that each of these items costs less than $100 (a huge win considering that you can’t buy them anywhere else).
Fall in L.A. means warm temperatures and lots of sun, but Judith is still giving us all of the fall vibes with this look, which somehow manages to be classic, on-trend, and affordable all at once. She calls this “the perfect outfit for all my fall activities from going to pumpkin patches to apple-picking to meeting with friends for coffee.” It goes without saying that a relaxed and effortless dress is a fall essential, but this beautiful brown hue is an added on-trend touch. According to Judith, “cool slide sandals and a chic denim jacket (because it’s not fall without a little denim!) are the perfect finishing pieces for a casual and cool everyday fall look.” And when the temperatures finally do drop in L.A., she can drape a cozy knit around her shoulders for extra warmth.
