Titanfall Legends Details Come to Light: Game was Inspired by DOOM Eternal; Story and Character Details

New details regarding the canceled Titanfall Legends game have been revealed. It turns out that there are some new interesting facts to learn about this game that will never come to be. These details came to light over at GiantBomb’s Game Mess Mornings latest episode, in which Jeff Grubb revealed some interesting details about this game.

According to Jeff Grubb, Titanfall Legends borrowed some inspiration from DOOM Eternal, Id Software’s latest game in the DOOM series, which was massively successful. The game also was planned to be a single-player endeavor for a plan in which Electronic Arts and Respawn would turn Apex Legends into a platform like Call of Duty.

Because of this, the game would feature Legends, who would show up occasionally to give some special abilities to the playable characters. Meanwhile, Titans would become rarer to acquire, making them more unique during this single-player experience. In Titanfall Legends, BT would play a major role in the game’s story, while Rampart was going to be the one to bring her back to life.

Jeff Grubb also talked a bit about Titanfall Legends’ cancellation. The directive mentioned that many key people from the early days of development had left Respawn. Because of this, Electronic Arts essentially just deemed things to be too financially difficult to maintain this endeavor. The company’s logic is that, once again, a single-player-only game would not make as much money as a multiplayer game… Sure, EA.

Titanfall Legends mostly existed to be a diversion for Apex Legends players, allowing the people who loved that multiplayer experience to reach a new height in the single-player department. However, one of the last things that Jeff Grubb mentioned was that Respawn is also currently working on a non-licensed game. In other words, we’ll probably see something new and original from the developers at Respawn quite soon.
