It has been almost two weeks since the Galaxy S23 went official, and while people are still waiting for their phones to arrive, we are already hearing some great things about the latest devices. Instead of reinventing the wheel, Samsung decided to improve upon the foundation it laid with the Galaxy S21 series, only taking it forward and making it better. The latest phones launched with One UI 5.1, which introduced several new features, and now we have news that it will also be coming to older phones.
One UI 5.1 will be coming to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 pretty soon
At the time of writing, One UI 5.1 is limited to the Galaxy S23 series only. Based on information from a Canadian carrier, the update should arrive on older Galaxy S22 phones as early as February 22nd, later this month. The plan also shows that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 will also get the update.
If this happens, Galaxy S23 features will make their way to older phones. One UI 5.1 is not a significant update by any means. However, it is still an excellent refinement over the One UI 5.0. You get features such as mode-based wallpaper selection, new widgets, Expert RAW integration for the default camera app, bypass charging, and more.
This should not be coming as a surprise since Samsung’s software division has become more robust, with all the phones receiving both major and minor updates in a timely fashion, but it is good to see the company hard at working when it comes to bringing Galaxy S23 features to older, but still viable flagships.
