It looks like Facebook parent company Meta is pulling a Twitter as the company has announced its newest service called Meta Verified and if the name isn’t apparent enough, the service allows you to get access to a verification badge along with some other exclusive features. The new service will be available for both Facebook and Instagram, and of course, for a fee.
Meta Verified will cost you $11.99/month on Web and $14.99/month on iOS and is launching soon across the world
Earlier today, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared a post on his Facebook account talking about the new subscription. According to Zuckerberg, this service will let you verify your account with a government ID, which will result in a blue badge appearing on your profile.
You can look at the entire post below.
Zuckerberg claims that Meta Verified is a way of protecting yourself against impersonation. In addition, the new feature is going to increase authenticity along with security along with all the services being offered by Meta. Zuckerberg also claims how the new service will give you direct access to customer support, giving you more reasons to go ahead and subscribe.
Moving further, the new subscription is going to cost you $11.99/month on web and $14.99 on iOS. The increased price on iOS is to tackle Apple’s in-app payment charge. The service will be starting in Australia and New Zealand this week, and more countries will follow soon.
Although you might think that this is feature that should have come out a long time ago, this will only give way to several accounts with blue ticks, not many of which might actually be authentic. Here is hoping that the process of getting a blue tick on Facebook and Instagram comes with some due diligence.
