The promotion for the Resident Evil 4 remake has made fairly clear that Capcom isn’t leaving much on the cutting room floor – the original game’s action movie vibes, quirky characters, and even some less popular areas, like the later Island section, are returning. That said, if you were still even remotely concerned the new RE4 wasn’t embracing the mad ethos of the original, the latest trailer will set your mind at ease.
The new RE4 trailer shows off a number of later-game content we haven’t seen much of yet, including battles against the monks (yes, we do see Leon German suplex one on their head) and plenty of bullet-happy action on the Island. We also get our first peek at key characters like Jack Krauser, the villainous Osmund Saddler, and more. Check it all out for yourself, below.
Phew! That was a lot to take in, but I’m eager to jump back into the insanity. In addition to the new trailer, Capcom has also revealed that Resident Evil 4 will be getting a time-limited demo and Mercenaries mode will be returning as post-launch content.
“To help hold fans over until March 24, the Resident Evil 4 demo has been announced. Special agents looking to tackle even more challenges in Resident Evil 4 will be excited to hear the prolific “The Mercenaries” challenge mode is also returning as free post-launch DLC. More information about the release timing of the demo and “The Mercenaries” DLC will be shared at a later date.”
Haven’t been keeping up with Resident Evil 4? Here’s a quick official description…
“Survival is just the beginning. Six years have passed since the biological disaster in Raccoon City. Agent Leon S. Kennedy, one of the survivors of the incident, has been sent to rescue the president’s kidnapped daughter. He tracks her to a secluded European village, where there is something terribly wrong with the locals. And the curtain rises on this story of daring rescue and grueling horror where life and death, terror and catharsis intersect. Featuring modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and vividly detailed graphics, Resident Evil 4 marks the rebirth of an industry juggernaut. Relive the nightmare that revolutionized survival horror.”
Resident Evil 4 launched on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5 on March 24.
