Satellite service Dish Network has been experiencing a significant outage since Thursday, The Verge reported. The outage started the day Dish reported their 2022 Q4 earnings, when the company announced they’ve dropped below 10 million subscribers for the first time in nearly 20 years.
Apparently, the company’s website, app, and customer service lines are down. The front page of Dish’s website currently displays a banner thanking customers for their patience, stating, “We are experiencing a system issue that our teams are working hard to resolve.”
The Verge couldn’t reach a human on the service’s customer service line, just an automated message; Mashable called Dish and received the same message, which said that an internal systems issue is impacting customer service. While the recording stated that satellite service should not be disrupted during this time, customers have taken to Twitter to complain about various problems, including disrupted service. Users on DownDetector have also indicated issues in the last 24 hours.
Not only are customers confused about what’s going on, but employees seem to be too. Sources told The Verge that they’ve been left in the dark about the outage and that the system is so broken that some people haven’t worked in over a day.
