Hunt Showdown Gets One of the Biggest Updates, Adding New Questlines, Tutorials, and More

Today, Crytek announced the availability of Hunt Showdown update 1.12, labeled as one of the biggest patches released to date for the PvPvE first-person extraction shooter game.

First of all, the development team has added two new tutorials to ensure newcomers can more comfortably understand the game’s rather hardcore mechanics. The basic tutorial is focused on core elements of Hunt Showdown such as the Dark Sight, gunplay, monsters, et cetera. Voiced by none other than Doug Cockle (the voice actor of The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia), it guides new players through a series of objectives. The first time Hunt Showdown players complete the basic tutorial, they receive a Tier 1 Hunter as well as three additional Hunters with predefined gear and traits. There’s also a new advanced tutorial where players need to seek the clues to a boss’s location, then defeat the monster and banish it before escaping from the map with their reward.

Update 1.12 also expands Hunt Showdown with two new questlines called The Ward of the Reptilian and Vengeance of the Skinned. The first one is actually available right now until May 1st, while the second questline is said to open up soon. Each questline is divided into six acts that provide different activities and rewards, such as:

The Ward of the Reptilian

Act 1 – Legendary Dusters “Monongahela Bruiser”

Act 2 – Winfield M1876 Centennial Short (Weapon Unlock)

Act 3 – Legendary Scottfield Model 3 Precision “Somber Gale”

Act 4 – Winfield M1876 Centennial Shorty (Weapon Unlock)

Act 5 – Legendary Berthier Mle 1892 “Ferryman’s Oar”

Act 6 – Legendary Hunter “The Scaled Ward”

Vengeance of the Skinned

Act 1 – Springfield M1892 Krag Bayonet (Weapon Unlock)

Act 2 – Legendary Nagant M1895 Officer Brawler “Killian’s Chance”

Act 3 – Springfield M1892 Krag Sniper (Weapon Unlock)

Act 4 – Legendary Bomb Lance “Nola’s Screw”

Act 5 – Weapon Charm “Marred Murex”

Act 6 – Legendary Hunter “The Skinned”

Hunt Showdown aficionados will be happy to learn that the long requested combat log feature is now available with update 1.12. Players can view up to 90 seconds of combat activity ahead of their character’s defeat, including what weapon killed them, whether it was a headshot or not, and more.

That’s not all. Solo players will find new traits that are only available when playing alone, and Crytek also slightly increased the bonus rewards for extracting with the bounty when playing solo.  Furthermore, update 1.12 adds lootable horse saddles to the game world that may contain consumables, weapons, or in-game currency. The full changelog, with a ton of bug fixes, is available on Steam.

Later this year, Crytek plans to introduce features like AMD FSR 2.1, DirectStorage, and HDR.
