My Skin Is Exceptionally Flaky This Time of Year—Here’s What Repels the Dryness

OSTN Staff

Simply put, it’s our job to find the best beauty products out there for you. From the newest serum to the hottest lipstick color to the dry shampoo that will change your life, we will find it, test it, and let you know what we think. We’re not complaining. It’s a pretty fun gig, and we’ll volunteer to be beauty guinea pigs any day.

But one of the cool things to come out of this is finding out what products you’re loving and buying. It helps us figure out what you want to learn more about and what you’re into so we can bring even more personalized recs to you.

Because we share a lot of our favorites with you every single day, we recognize it might be hard to keep up. So we’ve decided to put together a handy weekly list of what we love and what you love—consider this a CliffsNotes, one-stop shop of what’s really trending and worth adding to your cart at this very moment.

This week, we’re talking dry-skin remedies. Take a look at what the Who What Wear universe (including editors, staffers, and readers) is obsessed with right now, and if you don’t see a new favorite on this list, we’d love to know. Send us a DM.

I can’t talk about my dry-skin woes without also talking about Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel. I use this product pretty regularly but especially when my face is super dry. It’s lightweight and cooling, and I can keep applying it throughout the day as needed.

When my skin is super dry, I layer on this ultra-hydrating serum along with a moisturizer. I also like to wear it on its own at night when my skin is normal and not freaking out. The lightweight gel formula contains glycerin and leaves my skin plumper and refreshed.

Even washing my face can feel painful when my skin is on the fritz. This facial cleanser is so gentle because it has soothing ingredients like cucumber extract and rose water.

This lotion for your face and body is another dry-skin savior I won’t shut up about. Because it’s formulated without fragrances, dyes, or other chemicals, it doesn’t irritate your skin further.

Surprise, surprise—another gel cream! I normally use this as a daily moisturizer during dry season. It’s lightweight and really locks in moisture.

This micellar water comes in handy when I’m wearing makeup but don’t want to aggravate my dry skin with other removers. It leaves my skin feeling super fresh.

Chapped lips can be annoying, not to mention painful. I keep this one in my purse because it has hydrating ingredients like avocado oil, mongongo oil, and tripeptide-1.

This gentle cleanser is formulated to protect against environmental stressors, like pollution and harsh climates. It sounds like a winner if your skin is acting up because of a change in the season.

Don’t forget about your hands. They can get dry for various reasons, like dry weather or excessive handwashing. This hand mask contains shea butter and prebiotic oat to have a soothing effect.

This toner won’t aggravate your skin even more since it’s formulated to soften the skin while refining the appearance of pores. It’s even infused with real rose petals for an ultra-luxe experience.

Aveeno’s night cream features nourishing ingredients, like an antioxidant-rich blackberry complex and vitamins C and E. It will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, too.

Yes, this ultra-rich cream is a big splurge, but there’s a reason why it’s got a loyal fan base (which includes celebs!). It’s deeply hydrating with ingredients like argan oil, evening primrose oil, and avocado oil.

SkinCeuticals products are always a favorite with Who What Wear editors, and this facial treatment doesn’t disappoint. It has amazing antiaging properties, leaving your skin moisturized, supple, and radiant.

This serum has five (yes, five) types of hydrators to rejuvenate your skin quickly. It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid, a peptide complex, and vitamin E.

Another overnight mask option, this one is infused with vitamin C, squalane, hyaluronic acid, and a proprietary superberry blend to boost hydration, brighten skin, and protect against free radicals.

Beauty editor Erin Jahns says this product and the brand’s body butter “borderline changed my life.” The quick-absorbing oil contains hydrating ingredients, like essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and rose hip, grape, and apricot oils.

Nécessaire is another Who What Wear editor favorite. The brand’s body lotion leaves skin so soft and healthy thanks to ingredients like marula, cacay, and meadowfoam oils; niacinamide; vitamins A, B3, C, and E; omegas 6 and 9; and antioxidants.

Apply this mask to dehydrated and stressed skin for some sweet relief in 10 to 15 minutes. It contains hyaluronic acid, vitamin B5, and glycerin.

Contributor Caitlin Burnett uses this facial mist to soothe her eczema. She says she uses it as the first step in her skincare routine for an extra boost of moisture. Next up, 5 Afro-Latina disruptors changing the course of the beauty industry.
