After months of jeans, layers and even boots (it was a long, cold winter, wasn’t it?), summer is finally here! But with the new season and warm weather comes endless outfit dilemmas, especially if, like me, you’re not a big fan of dresses.
I want to feel comfortable, for sure, but in summer I often miss that put-together feeling that autumn/winter dressing lends itself to so easily. Now this where trousers comes in. Easy to dress up or down, comfy and still polished-looking, trousers have become a very firm fixture in my summer wardrobe. And I know I’m not alone.
This year, I am finding myself drawn towards relaxed trousers in either lightweight linens or with uplifting summer shades like greens, stripes and pinks. I’ve found lots of tempting pairs from high-street brands including Arket and COS but also designer labels like Toteme and Faithfull the Brand. The one thing all of these trousers I’ve found have in common is how easy they are to style: Simply add a tank top, silk camisole or white Oxford shirt and you’ll have a considered, chic throw-on look in no time.

You can’t go wrong with a matching set.
For a more relaxed feel, opt for a looser fit and wide-leg silhouette.
If you want something a little bolder, opt for a bright colour or print.

I love this soft khaki shade.
Barrel-leg is one of my favourite trouser style. I’d wear these exactly as above; with a waistcoat and chunky flip flops.

Pleated trousers are always so comfy and will work hard in your wardrobe all year round.
This is a set I can get behind.
Smart but still really easy.

Add a silky cami and heels for a night out or tank top and Birkenstocks for the weekend.
