Rivera Bashes Carlson

Mediaite reported that Rivera went on “The View” on Wednesday morning to bash Carlson and his new Twitter venture, which he launched after being abruptly fired by Fox News earlier this year.

“I think that he is an excellent writer,” Rivera said of Carlson. “I think that he was very charismatic in his presentation. He was number one for a reason, was a pretty good show. Then he drifted into this murky area where a swampy area where, you know, these conspiracy theories and it’s not just generates a whole bunch of different mucky kind of conspiracies.”

“Fox is a tremendous platform,” he added. “And once you lose that platform, you’re kind of screaming in the wilderness and competing with a lot of other people who have podcasts and so forth. So will he be the same character? I don’t know.”

Rivera concluded by revealing why he “will never forgive” Carlson.

“I don’t like to be unkind, but that what he did, just as I would never vote for Donald Trump, I will never forgive Tucker for what he did about January 6th,” he said.

Rivera Reveals Why He Left Fox News

In this same interview, Rivera revealed that he decided to leave Fox News after being “fired” from “The Five.”

“I had a very toxic relationship with another of the cast members,” he said, according to People Magazine.

“So I got a call from two of the female executives and they said, ‘You’re off The Five, but there are plenty of other things you could do,’” Rivera recounted. “I had a year and a half left on my contract and I said, ‘Well, stop it. If you fired me from the No.1 show, then I’m going to quit.’ And that’s basically what happened.”

“But in the interim, as in the days that led up to my last day of work, they were so kind to me,” he continued. “They really were so nice, remembering all the things we did together over the 20-odd years. Remember I went there to be a war correspondent after the 9/11 attacks.”

Though Rivera declined to name the person on “The Five” that he had a “toxic relationship” with, he made it clear that he felt that Fox executives favored this person.

“I thought that it was very unfair that I was not judged objectively in our disputes, but rather he was always favored…I was suspended, you know, three times my appearances, I had two to three appearances scheduled weekly, then bi-weekly, then monthly, then they kind of disappeared,” he explained. “They were canceled in the last day, right before I was supposed to go on. So I was a really ticked-off guy.”

Rivera’s Fox News Exit

During his final Fox News appearance on June 30, Rivera said that he felt “such affection for the people in this building.”

“I really, I feel very emotional and deeply moved,” he said after a montage of his work at Fox was shown. “I will always remember this morning. It is something that I didn’t expect, this celebration is beyond the beyond.”

As for Carlson, he’s getting more views than he ever got at Fox with the videos that he’s posting to his Twitter page. Rivera can bash him all that he wants to, but in the end, it’s Tucker Carlson who is getting the last laugh!
