Having solved all other matters relating to the security of our nation, National Security Council (NSC) spokesman John Kirby launched an impassioned defense of funding abortions in the military.
During a press briefing on Monday, Kirby was asked about a new Department of Defense (DOD) policy on abortion.
The policy makes use of taxpayer dollars to reimburse the costs of travel and care related to “reproductive health” and was implemented as a response to the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.
“Why is the new DOD policy on abortion critical to military readiness?” a reporter asked before Kirby absolutely parted with his soul in response.
“Our policies — whether they’re diversity, inclusion, and equity; or whether they’re about transgender individuals who qualify physically and mentally to serve to be able to do it with dignity; or whether it’s about female servicemembers — one in five — or female family members being able to count on the kinds of healthcare and reproductive care specifically that they need to serve,” he railed.
“That is a foundational, sacred obligation of military leaders across the river,” Kirby added, pounding the podium repeatedly to emphasize his point.

Kirby: Abortions In The Military Are Sacred
Kirby managed to turn the military’s supposed obligation to fund abortions into some sort of family values angle.
“It says we’re invested in you because you are being willing to invest in us. You’re investing your life, your family’s livelihood with us,” he said of the DOD policy. “We owe you that back in return.”
Terms like “family” and “livelihood” are used to describe the death of a child. We’re truly living in a bizarre world.
Utah Senator Mike Lee (R) pointed out the obvious dichotomy in military policy when it comes to paying travel and time for abortions verses another event involving the death of a family member – bereavement.
Soldier to @SecDef: “My mom died; I need to travel to her funeral.”@SecDef to soldier: “You’ll be charged for leave time and must pay your own travel.”

Current DOD policy on the matter forces service members over a certain amount of leave accruals to charge that time and only applies to the deaths of a spouse or child.
Kirby went on to suggest not funding abortions is creating a “retention and a morale issue” because “abortion laws in this country that are now being passed are absolutely having an effect on (active duty members) willingness to continue serving in uniform.”
“It can have an extremely, extremely significant impact on our recruiting and retention. Not to mention it’s just the right darn thing to do for people that raise their hand and agree to serve in the military,” he added.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre seemed moved by Kirby’s impassioned plea.

One Republican Is Trying To Change Military Abortion Policy
Kirby’s tirade comes with the backdrop that Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville (R) has been blocking military promotions in an attempt to change the Pentagon’s abortion policy.
He has received pushback not only from Democrats but weak-kneed Republican leaders like Mitch McConnell.
“No, I don’t support putting a hold on military nominations,” McConnell told reporters in May. “I don’t support that.”

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has said the blockade on military promotions poses “a clear risk to U.S. military readiness, especially at his critical time.”
When you’ve got top-ranking administration officials foaming at the mouth over funding abortions or dignity for transgender individuals, it would seem the military itself isn’t worried about being ready for threats against the United States.
Political analyst Tucker Carlson criticized the new “woke” military generals and policies weakening our nation and suggested they are “more committed to meeting some counterproductive diversity goal — hiring more pregnant Air Force pilots, assembling the world’s first transgender SEAL team — than on defending the United States.”

Should America be attacked now or in the coming years, one cannot help but fear that we would be in serious trouble, given how “woke” our military has become.
Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
