Priscilla Presley is speaking out this week to address the controversy surrounding the fact that she began dating her future husband Elvis Presley when she was only 14 years-old, while he was 24.

Priscilla Defends Relationship With Elvis
Fox News reported that Priscilla, 78, was at the Venice Film Festival over the weekend promoting the upcoming Sofia Coppola-directed biopic Priscilla, which is about her life and is based on her 1985 memoir “Elvis and Me.” During a recent press conference, Priscilla defended her relationship with Elvis, who tragically died in 1977 at the age of 42.
“Elvis would pour his heart out to me. His hopes, his fears, his loss of his mother. And I was the person who really sat there to listen and to comfort him,” she explained. “That was really our connection. Even though I was 14, I was older in life than in years.”
“And that was the attraction. People think, ‘Oh, it was sex, it was this.’ Not at all. I never had sex with him. He was very kind, very soft, very loving,” Priscilla added. “But he also respected the fact I was only 14 years old. We were more in mind and thought and that was our relationship.”

Priscilla ‘Never Told Anyone’
Priscilla went on to reveal that she mostly saw Elvis in private during their early years.
“I didn’t know why he put so much trust in me, but he did,” she recalled. “And I never, ever, ever told anyone that I was seeing him, and that was another issue that he loved, is the fact that I never gave him up in any way. I never told anyone at school that I was seeing him. So, we built a relationship and then our relationship went on until yes, I left.”
Priscilla married Elvis in 1967, and though they divorced in 1973, they remained on good terms.
“It wasn’t because I didn’t love him — he was the love of my life,” Priscilla said of their split. “It was the lifestyle that was so difficult for me, and I think any woman can relate to that. But it didn’t mar our relationship; we still remained very, very close. And of course, we had our daughter, and I made sure that he saw her all the time. It was like we never left each other.”
Their only child Lisa Marie was born in 1968, but she sadly passed away suddenly of a heart attack earlier this year at the age of 54.

Priscilla’s Thoughts On New Biopic
During her Venice press conference, Priscilla gave her thoughts on the new movie about her life.
“It’s very difficult to watch a film about you and about your life and about your love,” Priscilla said. “But Sofia did an amazing job. She did her homework. And I really put everything out for her that I could.”
Last month, Priscilla admitted that she was “nervous” for the public to see the movie.
“I’m so nervous because it’s my life,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “The people who are watching, they’re living it with you, and you hope and pray that they get it. They get your feelings, your hurts, your sensitivity.”
