The legendary Hollywood star Tom Selleck of “Magnum P.I.” fame has announced that he will be releasing an “intimate” new memoir in which he will clear up various “misconceptions” about his life.
DID YOU KNOW? Before his red Ferrari, the producers of Magnum, P.I. wanted Tom Selleck to drive a Porsche. But the company refused to make modifications for Selleck, at 6′ 4″, to actually fit in the seat.

Selleck Writing Memoir
Daily Mail reported that a press release from Dey Street Books stated that the book will be an account of Selleck’s “remarkable life and thoroughly accidental career.” Selleck, 78, will reportedly use the memoir to describe “his misfires and mistakes” before and after becoming famous in a “frank, funny and open-hearted” way.
The title of the memoir is “You Never Know,” and it is set to be released on May 7, 2024.
The book’s official description on Amazon reveals that Selleck “brings readers on his uncharted but serendipitous journey to the top” of the entertainment industry in “his own voice and uniquely unpretentious style,” detailing his “temptations and distractions, his misfires and mistakes and, over time, his well-earned success.”
Tom Selleck’s iconic Hawaiian shirt, Detroit Tigers hat, and insignia ring from the show were all donated to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

Selleck To Clear Up ‘Misconceptions’ About His Life
Selleck is determined to use the book to clear “up an armload of misconceptions and shares dozens of never-told stories from all corners of his personal and professional life” as well as his “rambunctious California childhood.”
On top of that, Selleck will detail “his personal friendships with a vivid army of A-listers, everyone from Frank Sinatra to Carol Burnett to Sam Elliott, paying special tribute to his mentor James Garner of ‘The Rockford Files,’ who believed, like Selleck, that TV protagonists are far more interesting when they have rough edges.”

“Hollywood is never easy, even for stars who make it look that way,” the description concludes, adding that Selleck’s “journey offers a truly fresh perspective on a changing industry and a changing world. Beneath all the charm and talent and self-deprecating humor, Selleck’s memoir reveals an American icon who has reached remarkable heights by always insisting on being himself.”

Selleck Enjoys His Privacy
This comes two months after Selleck celebrated his 36th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife Jillie Mack, who he met when she was performing in the musical “Cats” back in 1983. They share one daughter together and live on a sprawling ranch in California, where Selleck enjoys his privacy despite his A-list celebrity status.

“I’m a fairly private person,” Selleck explained to People Magazine in 2020. “And I’ve always treasured the balance between work and time with my family. It’s always about them.”
That’s why Selleck decided to end “Magnum P.I.” back in 1988, when the show was still at its peak in terms of popularity.
“I knew intellectually what it would mean in terms of being a public person, but until you’ve lived it, there’s no way to understand it,” said Selleck. “I had a feeling of, ‘I don’t think I’m cut out for this.’”
“I quit ‘Magnum,’ not because I didn’t like it or I was tired of it,” he continued. “I was tired from it. And I wanted a three-dimensional life because I didn’t have one.”
After a lengthy break from acting, Selleck found success again on the television show “Blue Bloods,” which he’s been starring on since 2010.
“I’m proud of my work, I still love what I do, and I have my family,” Selleck stated. “I’ve been enormously fortunate.”
