Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary frontman of the band Black Sabbath, has made the sad announcement that he likely does not have long to live as he’s revealed to his fans that doctors have found a tumor in his spine.

Osbourne Talks Death

Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 20 years ago, Osbourne has battled a wide variety of health ailments. It was only when he recently underwent back surgery, however, that doctors discovered a tumor in one of the vertebrae. Even so, Osbourne is doing his best to stay positive while also acknowledging that the end may be near for him.

“I should have been dead a thousand times,” Osbourne, 74, told Rolling Stone UK. “I’ve been doing a lot of reflection while I’ve been laid up, and all my drinking partners, I’ve realized they’re all f***ing dead! The graveyard’s full of them! You’re dead and you’re dead and you’re dead.”

“I should have been dead way before loads of them,” he continued. “Why am I last man standing? I don’t understand any of it. Sometimes I look in the mirror and go, ‘Why the f**k did you make it?!’ I’m not boasting about any of it because I should have been dead a thousand times. I’ve had my stomach pumped God knows how many times.”

Osbourne Believes He Has Ten Years To Live At Most

Osbourne believes that at most, he has ten years to live if he’s lucky, but he’s no longer afraid of the idea of dying sooner rather than later.

“I don’t fear death, but I don’t want to have a long, painful and miserable existence,” he explained. “I like the idea that if you have a terminal illness, you can go to a place in Switzerland and get it done quickly. I saw my father die of cancer.”

“But look,” he continued. “I said to Sharon that I’d smoked a joint recently and she said, ‘What are you doing that for! It’ll f***ing kill you!’ I said, ‘How long do you want me to f***ing live for?!’ At best, I’ve got ten years left and when you’re older, time picks up speed.”

Osbourne was referring to his beloved wife Sharon, who he’s been married to since 1982. Last month, the Osbournes shocked the world by confirming that they still have an assisted suicide pact in place, something that they first went public with in 2007.

“We believe 100 percent in euthanasia, so [we] have drawn up plans to go to the assisted suicide flat in Switzerland if we ever have an illness that affects our brains,” Sharon told the Daily Mirror at the time.

Osbourne Eager To Perform Again

Despite his various health problems, Osbourne is still hoping to be able to return to the stage to perform again,  saying that the fact that he “never got the chance to say goodbye or thank you” to his fans onstage is “one of the things I’ve been the most f—ing pissed off at.”

“For whatever reason, that’s my goal to work to. To do those shows. If it’s Ozzfest or somewhere, or even a f***ing gig at the Roundhouse,” he stated. “If I can’t continue doing shows on a regular basis, I just want to be well enough to do one show where I can say, ‘Hi guys, thanks so much for my life.’ that’s what I’m working towards, and if I drop down dead at the end of it, I’ll die a happy man.”
