Morgan Wallen Praised For Bringing Black People To Country Music After N-Word Scandal

Two years after Morgan Wallen was targeted by cancel culture for dropping the n-word, things have come full circle for him, as he is now being praised for bringing black people to country music by one of his fellow stars.

#MorganWallen is now the FIRST country artist with 5 solo hits to reach #1 on Country Radio Airplay during the same year.

Ashlie Amber Praises Wallen

The country music star Ashlie Amber, who happens to be black herself, told Whiskey Riff that Wallen deserves much of the credit for bringing black people to this music genre.

“What he’s doing with music, and the fact that he’s able to incorporate so much R&B and so much hip-hop over his country sound, is incredible because he’s opened the doors to a demographic of people that love music, that love to stream it, that love to go to concerts,” she said.

“I am allowed to have a song with 808s and trap on it, but I can also come down and just have banjo and guitar and all of the core country traditional sounds,” Amber continued. “I applaud him for bringing in a new demographic and making country music cool. I think it takes a very special type of person to be able to cross into that demographic. And people can see authenticity and fans can read through that.”

Though the cancel culture mob continues to target Wallen years after his n-word scandal, Amber has his back.

“I’m team Morgan,” she concluded.

Wallen Responds To N-Word Scandal

Wallen, now 30, found himself in hot water back in February of 2021 when he was caught on camera dropping the n-word as he arrived home from a drunken night out with friends. Earlier this month, Wallen opened up about the backlash that he received for using this racial slur.

“There’s no excuse. I’ve never made an excuse. I never will make an excuse,” Wallen told Billboard. “I’ve talked to a lot of people, heard stories [about] things that I would have never thought about because I wasn’t the one going through it.”

“And I think, for me, in my heart I was never that guy that people were portraying me to be, so there was a little bit of like, ‘Damn, I’m kind of actually mad about this a little bit because I know I shouldn’t have said this, but I’m really not that guy,’” he added.

“I put myself in just such a s— spot, you know? Like, ‘You really messed up here, guy.’ If I was that guy, then I wouldn’t have cared,” Wallen continued. “I wouldn’t have apologized. I wouldn’t have done any of that if I really was that guy that people were saying about me. That person is definitely not the same person I am now.”

Wallen’s New Year’s Eve Plans

Unfortunately for those trying to cancel Wallen, their efforts have failed miserably. This was shown by the fact that Wallen will be taking part in the “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash,” which will air live on CBS and be streamed on Paramount+ on Dec. 31, according to The Daily Caller.

Other big country names on this lineup include Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thomas Rhett, Jon Pardi, and more.

It doesn’t get much more mainstream than that!

We applaud Amber for giving Wallen the credit that he deserves when it comes to what he has done for country music. In the end, Wallen isn’t going anywhere, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to country music in the years to come!
