Trump Suggests That If He Becomes President Again, Joe Biden Could Be Indicted

Running for president is an extremely grueling endeavor. It’s infinitely worse while facing several indictments from Democrats and the Biden administration.

But none of that has seemed to slow down Donald Trump, who is leading the Republican Party primary by massive numbers. And he is in a fighting mood.

The former President recently suggested that if he’s successful, his likeliest Democratic opponent and the current president, Joe Biden, might be indicted also.

Trump think presidents and ex-presidents should have immunity from such legal troubles. But if it’s okay for him to be indicted, Biden should suffer the same fate. A Pandora’s Box of sorts.

‘If I Don’t Get Immunity, Then Crooked Joe Biden Doesn’t Get Immunity’

Whether one views Trump’s comment as mere vindictiveness or a genuine warning, the latter is definitely a case that can be made in our era of non-stop political weaponization.

NBC News reports, “Former President Donald Trump on Monday suggested that if he is re-elected he would have President Joe Biden indicted, a day before an appeals court hears arguments on his claim that presidential immunity protects him from prosecution for his role in the Jan. 6 attack.”

The story continues:

In a post to his Truth Social platform early Monday, Trump said he plans to attend oral arguments on his presidential immunity claim before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Tuesday, and claimed that it was his obligation as president to find voter fraud.

“Of course I was entitled, as President of the United States and Commander in Chief, to Immunity. I wasn’t campaigning, the Election was long over,” he wrote. “I was looking for voter fraud, and finding it, which is my obligation to do, and otherwise running running our Country.”

Trump then argued that, if his attempts to avoid prosecution over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election are unsuccessful, Biden shouldn’t be entitled to presidential immunity either.

“If I don’t get Immunity, then Crooked Joe Biden doesn’t get Immunity,” Trump wrote, before criticizing the Biden administration for the record number of migrants crossing into the U.S. southern border, its 2021 decision to pull troops from Afghanistan and baseless claims of Biden engaging in shady business practices with foreign countries.

Biden ‘Ripe for Indictment’

Trump has argued that former presidents are entitled to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for any “official acts” conducted during their presidency.

There are likely lots of Trump fans out there who disagree with such a concept. No President can be absolutely immune, they would argue – and they’d be right. But what crime has Trump committed, anyhow?

If it is arguable that Trump serves to be indicted, then it is also arguable that Biden deserves the same.

Donald Trump, at the very least, has a point.
