Hillary Clinton Mourns ‘Barbie’ Oscar Snubs – ‘#HillaryBarbie’

After trying and failing to run for president not once but twice, Hillary Clinton knows what it feels like to be snubbed publicly. Perhaps that’s why it hit a nerve for her yesterday when the feminist blockbuster Barbie director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie were both snubbed by the Oscars.

#HillaryBarbie

Gerwig and Robbie had been considered to be frontrunners to take home the Oscars for Best Director and Best Actress for their work in Barbie, so it came as a massive shock when they both weren’t even nominated. As leftwing social media users had meltdowns over the snubs, Clinton took to social media to offer her condolences to both women.

“Greta & Margot,” Clinton began, “While it can sting to win the box office but not take home the gold, your millions of fans love you.”

“You’re both so much more than Kenough,” she continued, borrowing a phrase from the film. She concluded her post by adding the nauseating hashtag, “#HillaryBarbie.”

Greta & Margot,

While it can sting to win the box office but not take home the gold, your millions of fans love you.

You’re both so much more than Kenough.#HillaryBarbie

Unfortunately for Clinton, however, social media users had a field day mocking her over her #HillaryBarbie hashtag:

bout an hour ago I was crafting a joke tweet about #HillaryBarbie and the thought that Hillary could actually weigh in on this flashed across my mind. “surely not” I comforted myself. “that would be too silly even for her!” I retorted to the dark omen in my head pic.twitter.com/9ntjYhqLCc

I feel so bad for Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig, nobody deserves to be endorsed by Hilary Clinton https://t.co/DyFYt12xlf

Could someone explain the #HillaryBarbie hashtag? Is there a “Losing Presidential Candidate” Barbie doll? https://t.co/4nSBs1Prtq

Imagine using #hillarybarbie as your hashtag unironically. https://t.co/I2zupnHIAf

Barbie Stars Blast Academy

This came after Ryan Gosling, who was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work as Ken in Barbie, slammed the Academy for not nominating Gerwig and Robbie as well.

“There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally celebrated film,” Gosling wrote on social media. “No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius. To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”

“Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history,” he added. “Their work should be recognized along with the other very deserving nominees.”

America Ferrera, a woman who was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Barbie, had some choice words for the Academy over the snubs as well despite her own nomination.

“I was incredibly disappointed that they weren’t nominated,” Ferrera told Variety. “Greta has done just about everything that a director could do to deserve it. Creating this world, and taking something that didn’t have inherent value to most people and making it a global phenomenon. It feels disappointing to not see her on that list.”

“What Margot achieved as an actress is truly unbelievable,” Ferrera continued. “One of the things about Margot as an actress is how easy she makes everything look. And perhaps people got fooled into thinking that the work seems easy, but Margot is a magician as an actress in front of the screen, and it was one of the honors of my career to get to witness her pull off the amazing performance she did. She brings so much heart and humor and depth and joy and fun to the character. In my book, she’s a master.”

Social Media Melts Down

It should be noted that despite what Clinton, Gosling, and Ferrera had to say, Gerwig and Robbie actually did receive Oscar nods on Tuesday, just not the ones that fans were hoping for. Gerwig was nominated for writing Barbie, and Robbie was nominated for producing the film, meaning that they weren’t snubbed completely.

You would never know it from the way liberals are losing their minds on social media over their alleged snubs, however:

I don’t pay much attention to award shows.

But Ryan Gosling getting a nomination and Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig NOT getting nominations feels like something happening in the Barbie movie to further illustrate the point of the Barbie movie. pic.twitter.com/T9uFEyiKOz

Clinton taking the time to comment on the Barbie snubs by giving herself a #HillaryBarbie hashtag really is peak Hillary Clinton. In the end, all she showed here is that she’s a two-time presidential loser who is more desperate to stay relevant than ever, and it does not get much more pathetic than that!
