Hallow Prayer App Sees Massive Spike In Downloads After Mark Wahlberg Super Bowl Ad

Earlier this week, we reported that the Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg called on his fans to pray in a new Super Bowl ad for the Catholic prayer app known as Hallow. Now, Hallow CEO Alex Jones is saying that the app saw the “biggest spike” it’s ever had in the wake of the Super Bowl.

“Officially the biggest spike in Hallow history,” Jones wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “More downloads in a single minute than ever before.”

“Already ranking ahead of Netflix,” he added. “And Lent hasn’t even started yet. Glory to God. Can’t wait to pray together!”

Hallow Ad

Wahlberg appeared in the ad, which Fox News aired in fifteen markets during the Super Bowl, along with the actor Jonathan Roumie, who is known for his portrayal of Jesus Christ in TBN’s “The Chosen” series.

Wahlberg, 52, begins the ad in a church, where he blesses himself before starting to pray as he sits in a pew, according to Daily Mail.

“God, we take this moment just to give you thanks. We thank you for this time to come together as a family, as friends, and as a country,” Wahlberg can be heard saying.

“Help us Lord, especially this Lent, to grow closer to you. Amen,” he continues. “Join us in prayer this Lent on Hallow. Stay prayed up.”

As Wahlberg speaks, the commercial shows a family praying around a table, a crowd cheering at a sporting event, and servicemen and women kneeling in prayer. A priest can then be seen placing ashes on the head of Roumie, who has his eyes closed and appears to look serene.

Hallow App

The Hallow app reportedly offers prayer-on-the-go and provides users with the opportunity to personalize their prayer experience through a custom-tailored daily prayer routine. The app allows users to “connect with friends and family” and build “custom family groups.”

“The goal at Hallow has always been to reach out to as many folks as possible, both those who take their faith seriously and especially those who might have fallen away, and invite them deeper into a relationship with God,” Jones told The New York Post.

“When we learned about the timing of the Big Game this year, we couldn’t have been more excited to work with Mark and Jonathan to use it as an opportunity to invite millions into prayer,” he continued.

Wahlberg’s Christian Faith

Wahlberg has long been open about his strong Christian faith.

“It’s a balance. I don’t want to jam it down anybody’s throat, but I do not deny my faith. That’s an even bigger sin,” Wahlberg said last year.

“You know, it’s not popular in my industry, but I cannot deny my faith. It’s important for me to share that with people,” he continued. “But, I have friends from all walks of life and all different types of faiths and religions, so it’s important to respect and honor them as well.”

We applaud Wahlberg for continuing to use his platform to spread the word of God. We’re so glad that his Super Bowl ad was a huge success, and we hope that this is only the beginning for Hallow!
