Scientists located the nest in Washington state by attaching small tracking devices to the hornets and following them back to their nest. They then removed the nest using a vacuum hose while wearing specialised protective gear.
Entomologists warn that the term ‘murder hornet’ is misleading, implying immediate danger or a threat to people. The insects do not look to attack humans, although the invasive species could pose a threat to Western honey bees. Read more…
