In the opening moments of the Cherry trailer, Tom Holland dons a mask — not the superhero face we’ve grown to find comfort in, but the face covering of a young man about to rob a bank. The film reunites him with Marvel directors Joe and Anthony Russo, this time adapting a novel by Nico Walker.
Cherry chronicles the postwar life of an Iraq vet who grapples with PTSD and addiction and becomes a bank robber in desperate times. Flashbacks reveal his time serving in battle and meeting the love of his life (Ciara Bravo) before everything fell apart.
