Angela Merkel Admits Trump’s Victory ‘Filled Her With Sadness,’ Says Elon Musk’s Influence a ‘Huge Concern’

Former German chancellor Angela Merkel has admitted that Trump’s spectacular election victory had “filled her with sadness” about the state of global politics.

Merkel, who served as channcelor of Germany for 16 year and remains the living embodiment of globalist ideology,  made the remarks in an interview with the left-wing German newspaper Der Spiegel published on Friday ahead of her upcoming memoir’s release.

According to Reuters, Merkel admitted that Trump’s win had “filled her with sadness” and made the globalist worldview harder to implement.

If someone in politics does not allow for win-win situations but only ever recognizes winners and losers, then that is a very difficult task for multilateralism,” she said.

Merkel, who stepped down in 2021 having flooded her once thriving country with illegal immigrants, also expressed concern about Elon Musk and his influence on the forthcoming administration.

If this ultimate recourse is influenced too strongly by companies, whether through capital power or technological capabilities, then that is an unprecedented challenge for all of us,” Merkel explained.

“If a person like him [Musk] owns 60% of all satellites orbiting in space, then that has to be a huge concern for us in addition to the political issues,” she continued.

In her memoir, Merkel also reflected on the moment where Donald Trump appeared to decline shaking her hand, which was widely described as a deliberate snub rather than an honest misunderstanding.

“Instead of stoically bearing it, I whispered to him that we should shake hands again,” she wrote. “As soon as the words left my mouth, I shook my head at myself.”

“How could I forget that Trump knew precisely what he was doing … He wanted to give people something to talk about with his behavior, while I had acted as though I were having a conversation with someone completely normal.”

Merkel’s decision to give her interview to Der Spiegel is itself revealing. Last month, the newspaper described Elon Musk as “enemy number two,” rhetoric that has since forced him to upgrade his personal security.

Merkel’s memoir, entitled Freedom: Memories 1954-2021, will be released for publication next week. In December, she will promote the book at an event with Barack Obama.
