Melanie Costabile and Derek Wood say they were inspired by The Pickwick Papers.“The Dreamboat Diaries not only made people smile amid the anxiety and worry but allowed them to disconnect for a few moments from the current dystopia and dabble in a little daydreaming,” says the foreword.Costabile found herself lonely and at a loss during the lockdown. She said her love of Dr Sutton united her with like-minded women and helped get her through the pandemic.A quote from the book says “the only thing to lighten Mel’s mood, was that silver-haired fox, that Dr Dreamboat of the sacred hotness, commanding that podium”.Move over Mills and Boon.
