Station making big moves in ratings war

While GOLD FM host Christian O’Connell marked a seventh consecutive survey as FM’s number one breakfast show on Thursday, rivals Chrissie Swan, Sam Pang and Jonathan Brown recorded the highest gain of 1.1 to hit second spot.They were 7.9, behind popular Brit O’Connell on 8.3. In the hotly contested drive slot, Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Joel Creasey also shot to second behind GOLD FM, rising 1.5 to go from 7.7 to 9.2In the second official ratings for the year, there was no movement in the leaderboard with 3AW still well out in front in breakfast, mornings, afternoons and drive.Russel Howcroft and Ross Stevenson dropped marginally from 22.2 to 21.5 in breakfast, while ABC held firm on 10.7.Fifi Box, Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody were steady on FOX FM breakfast with 7.2 again, while Triple M’s new recruit Marty Sheargold also remained the same at 6.2.KIIS FM’s Jase and PJ and smoothfm’s Jennifer Hansen and Mike Perso both had a drop in listeners; last time Hansen and Perso made the strongest gain. Overall smoothfm was strong in other markets.GOLD FM was the highest rating on the FM dial in mornings, afternoons and still in drive where Gavin Miller went from 10.4 to 10.7.FOX FM’s Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little also rose slightly, while Triple M’s Mick Molloy flying solo saw a drop by 1.4.SEN still posted low numbers but in mornings with Gerard Whateley rose 0.6. Drive also rose 0.5 while breakfast with Garry Lyon and Tim Watson dropped by 0.1.
